In a new interview with The Guardian, actress Angelina Jolie opened up about topics ranging from convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein to her custody battle with ex-husband Brad Pitt.

In the interview published on Saturday, Jolie, 46, who is promoting her new book “Know Your Rights and Claim Them,”touches on issues ranging from activism to the crisis in Afghanistan.

But the Oscar-winner also discusses the conflicts in her own life, including her decision to divorce Pitt and their ongoing custody battle over their six children.

“I’m not the kind of person who makes decisions like the decisions I had to make lightly. It took a lot for me to be in a position where I felt I had to separate from the father of my children,” Jolie told The Guardian.

Jolie had accused Pitt of domestic violence during their divorce, which began in 2016. They officially divorced in 2019, but the custody battle for the children has raged on.

The FBI cleared PItt of any wrongdoing in 2016.

Jolie said that now she’s looking for her family to “heal,” which includes Pitt.

“It’s not that I want to talk about anything really, because I just want my family to heal. And I want everyone to move forward – all of us, including their dad. I want us to heal and be peaceful. We’ll always be a family,” Jolie said.

People are none too pleased with Brad Pitt this weekend after ex-wife Angelina Jolie called him out in a new interview for working with convicted rapist and former Hollywood big shot Harvey Weinstein over her objections.

“Imagine if a man as beloved as Brad Pitt had rung the alarm on Harvey over a decade ago. Things may have been different,” freelance journalist Gennette Cordova tweeted.

Another commented: “Just learned that brad pitt happily chose to work with Angelina Jolie’s abuser and I sincerely hope brad pitt gets kicked in the f—ing nutsack.”
Fans were responding to Jolie’s revelations in a new interview with The Guardian published Saturday. The Oscar-winning actress said that Pitt’s choice to work with The Weinstein Company on Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Bastards” and later “Killing Them Softly” — Weinstein’s company produced the former and distributed the latter — was a sore spot in their marriage, considering her personal history with the infamous producer.
“We fought about it. Of course it hurt,” said Jolie, who describer her experience working with Weinstein on the 1998 film “Playing By Heart” was “something I had to escape. I stayed away and warned people about him.”

Weinstein is currently serving a 23-year prison sentence for first degree sexual assault and third degree rape.

According to Jolie, she was asked to star in “The Aviator,” but turned it down because of Weinstein’s involvement. “I never associated or worked with him again,” she said. “It was hard for me when Brad did.”
Reps for Pitt did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
In light of the actress’ words, fans began tweeting their sympathy for Jolie, and outrage at Pitt. Some lamented that change could have come to Hollywood more quickly if he had spoken up.

Angelina Jolie suffered in ‘traumatic’ marriage & divorce from Brad Pitt ‘for a DECADE’ amid nasty court war

ANGELINA Jolie has bravely opened up on the “traumatic” nature of “the last decade” which saw her marriage to Brad Pitt collapse and ignited an ongoing custody battle for their kids.

The Maleficent actress, 46, was wed to the Oceans Eleven star, 57, between 2014 and 2019.

‘BROKEN’ BY BRAD

After spending 12 years together, the Tomb Raider actress cited “irreconcilable differences” on the divorce papers.

Since then their split has been embroiled in bitterness, with the pair currently locking horns in a nasty custody dispute over their six kids – and Angelina making it clear she wants them to testify.

The Human rights advocate has been fighting Brad in court since they split in September 2016 and has now opened up on her raw suffering in the aftermath.

In an understandably emotionally-charged interview with the UK Guardian, she said her traumatic experiences had left her “broken.”

She told the publication her hurt had spanned longer than the five years since her split with Brad, and said: “I mean, in some ways it’s been the last decade.
“There’s a lot I can’t say.

“I think at the end of the day, even if you and a few people you love are the only people who know the truth of your life, what you fight for, or what you sacrifice, or what you’ve suffered, you come to be at peace with that, regardless of everything going on around you.”

CHILDREN’S RIGHTS

The former couple share six kids together: Maddox, 20, Pax, 17, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 15, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 13.

Earlier in the interview, the Golden Globe Award winner spoke of the differing rights accorded to children in both Europe and the US.

It has been reported Angelina wants her kids to testify in the custody case after seeking advice from childrens’ therapists.

Court documents previously revealed three of their brood were willing to do just this in front of a judge.

When addressing whether she previously feared for her family, Angelina candidly replied: “Yes, for my family. My whole family.”

She added: “I’m not the kind of person who makes decisions like the decisions I had to make lightly. It took a lot for me to be in a position where I felt I had to separate from the father of my children.”

The actress has bidded to retain custody of their children amid allegations Pitt was “abusive” to their then 15-year-old son Maddox during a private jet flight from France to the US.

Following a review, the FBI and Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family cleared the actor of any wrongdoing.
