Is Ezra Miller gay?
Back in 2012, Ezra Miller came out as queer in an interview with Out magazine, saying that they believed they were too young to be making long-term relationship commitments. “I have a lot of really wonderful friends who are of very different sexes and genders. I am very much in love with no one in particular,” they explained.
“I’ve been trying to figure out relationships, you know? I don’t know if it’s responsible for kids of my age to be so aggressively pursuing monogamous binds, because I don’t think we’re ready for them. The romanticism within our culture dictates that that’s what you’re supposed to be looking for. Then [when] we find what we think is love—even if it is love—we do not yet have the tools.”

A few years later, in 2018, Miller told the Hollywood Reporter that they used the term “queer” generally and preferred not to adopt a specific label. “I don’t identify. Like, f*ck that,” Miller clarified. “Queer just means no, I don’t do that. I don’t identify as a man. I don’t identify as a woman. I barely identify as a human.”
The Perks of Being a Wallflower star previously stated that they try not to be too rigid when it comes to how people refer to them. “I’m comfortable with all the pronouns,” Miller said in a 2018 cover story with GQ. “I let he/his/him ride, and that’s fine.” However, as of April 2022, their pronouns are they/them/it/ze, according to their Instagram profile.
Is Ezra Miller Polyamorous?
On Thursday, November 15, Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald star Ezra Miller sent fans into a frenzy when Playboy released photos of him wearing fishnets, bunny ears, and high heels — styling that he reportedly chose himself. But equally as powerful was Ezra’s accompanying interview, in which he opened up about being polyamorous as well as past abuse he’s suffered.
In the interview, Ezra, who identifies as queer, told Playboy a series of heartbreaks led to his decision to abandon monogamy. He then began exploring nonmonogamy and refers to his relationships with his partners as a “polycule” — a term that combines “polyamorous” and “molecule” — that’s made up of close friends and people he’s known for a long time. “I’m trying to find queer beings who understand me as a queer being off the bat, who I make almost a familial connection with, and I feel like I’m married to them 25 lifetimes ago from the moment we meet,” he said. “And then they are in the squad — the polycule. And I know they’re going to love everyone else in the polycule because we’re in the polycule, and we love each other so much.”
While Ezra did not use the term “polyamory”, an estimated 5% of Americans practice polyamory or another form of consensual nonmonogamy, according to Live Science. While nonmonogamy doesn’t always mean having multiple partners, Ezra’s polycule comprises multiple sexual partners.
The interview also delved into sexual assault and abuse, and Ezra opened up about his own experiences. “I’ve survived abuse for sure, for sure, in a lot of capacities, starting from a pretty young age,” he said. “There was a close friend who I had a sexual relationship with who really, really turned on me in a violent way. […] I’ve been attacked repeatedly in my life — I’ve been attacked by f*cking bigots, man.”

Why is Ezra Miller a complicated character?
The exciting part from Ezra Miller doesn’t only come from his sexuality, but also the character that he likes to play in movies. Ezra Miller’s persona is so very easy to be loved by everyone because he is pretty confident in embracing a twisted and complicated character of human beings in his character.
Well, when we pay attention to all of his characters in the movies, from The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and Miller? He always played a complicated character. It’s never boring, though.
“When I was a kid, I used to say the more challenging, the better,” and he’s been that way ever since. He also added, “It’s part of the intrigue of being an actor – to explore a wide range of possibilities that exists within a human being.”
He also likes to portray himself in an extraordinary way. Not because he tries too hard to be “different,” but he is just himself. His hairstyle and his outfit (be it in a movie or in real life) show us how extraordinary his personality is.
Well, his preference didn’t come from nothing. He surely has the past experience that shaped him the way he is; the way he views his sex and dating life, which leads to his extraordinary character in a movie. He said that his traumatic experience contributes the most.
“There was a close friend with who I had a sexual relationship who really, really turned me on in a violent way. So that Perks (refers to Perks of Being a Wallflower) story was pretty close to home for me.” Ezra Miller poured his heart out when he told that story to Playboy. Even though we enjoy his character so much, it’s pretty sad knowing the story behind it.
