Drake had a surprising revelation in his new song with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin: he dated SZA.
In his new feature “Mr. Right Now,” the Canadian rapper, 33, claims that he and the “Prom” singer, 29, dated over a decade ago.
“Yeah, said she wanna f— to some SZA, wait,” he raps. “‘Cause I used to date SZA back in ’08.”

Not one to be subtle, Drake has now claimed that he and SZA used to date back in 2008 in a new song lyric. “Yeah, said she wanna f*ck to some SZA, wait/ ‘Cause I used to date SZA back in ’08,” Drake raps in his feature on “Mr. Right Now,” a track from Metro Boomin and Young Thug’s new joint album Savage Mode II.
SZA confirmed their relationship on Twitter on Sunday, writing that though they did indeed have some sort of relations, Drake did take some poetic license in the lyric. “So It was actually 2009 lol .. in this case a year of poetic rap license mattered lol I think he jus innocently rhymed 08 w wait . Anybody who really knows me and was around during this time can confirm.. it’s all love all peace .”

Though there’s not else much public about the extent of the two’s relationship, Drake did congratulate the singer earlier this year when her song “Hit Different” dropped, writing on his Instagram story: “Solana is the chefs kiss” alongside a photo of her.

The rapper made a guest appearance on the song Mr Right Now from 21 Savage and Metro Boom’s new collaborative album Savage Mode II, and caused a bit of a stir after suggesting he had briefly been linked with the All The Stars hitmaker, before the two of them rose to prominence in the music industry.

While SZA has yet to publicly comment on Drake’s claims, she seems to have chosen to no longer follow his Instagram account, in a screenshot obtained by Hip Hop DX which has been posted on Twitter.
