When is Marvel’s Midnight Suns release date? Which heroes are confirmed?

Marvel’s Midnight Suns Announcement Trailer

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is an upcoming tactical role-playing game developed by Firaxis Games in collaboration with Marvel Games. It will feature comic book characters from multiple Marvel Comics properties, such as Midnight Sons, Avengers, X-Men, and Runaways. Players will be able to create their own superhero named “The Hunter” with choice of over 40 different powers.

When is Marvel’s Midnight Suns release date?

It’s been a long while since we last heard about Marvel’s Midnight Suns, which was originally set for release later this year. Now, thanks to leaks of box art and preorder info, it appears appropriately that the game will be arriving this October.

Originally scheduled for release this past March, Marvel’s Midnight Suns was announced back in November to have been pushed back to later this year. Journalist Nils Ahrensmeier had posted leaked box art of the game (which has subsequently been nailed for copyright claims), along with a release date of October 6. This hasn’t been confirmed by 2K or developer Firaxis, though fellow journalist Tom Henderson has backed up Ahrensmeier’s claims.

In addition, Midnight Suns will apparently have three separate editions for those looking to snag the game. Along with the Standard version, there’s the Enhanced Edition, which includes the base game & Enhanced Premium Pack (which features five premium skins). The Legendary Edition includes the base game, the Legendary Premium Pack (featuring 23 skins), and the Season Pass for Marvel’s Midnight Suns. The Season Pass includes four DLC packs, with each including a new playable hero, new missions, new enemies, and more.

The last bit of info involves the game’s “re-reveal”, which apparently will happen during Summer Games Fest, which kicks off on June 9.

Which heroes are confirmed for Marvel’s Midnight Suns?

In Marvel’s Midnight Suns, player-created ‘dark heroes’ join forces with the likes of Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Blade and Ghost Rider in a fight against Lilith, the Mother of Demons, as well as prevent the cataclysmic Darkhold from occurring.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

We can only speculate for the last three spots. Morbius the Living Vampire was one of the original Midnight Sons in the first comic storyline, and cashing in on the name recognition from the upcoming Jared Leto interpretation wouldn’t be the worst idea business-wise. Meanwhile, Moon Knight also has history with both supernatural weirdness and the Midnight Sons, and is about to get his own live-action miniseries starring Oscar Isaac.

The age classification – deliberated on 13th May and published on Friday 14th – suggests the tactical card-battle RPG may be coming to PC, Switch, and PlayStation and Xbox consoles sooner than expected, not least because it was also recently rated in Australia, too, where it was given a “mature” rating. Officially, though, Marvel’s Midnight Suns is still slated for a “second half of 2022” release.

What will Marvel’s Midnight Suns gameplay be like?

Players will take the role of “The Hunter”, a customizable superhero created for Midnight Suns by Firaxis Games in collaboration with Marvel. The playable roster includes Iron Man, Captain America, Wolverine, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, Blade, Ghost Rider, Magik, and Nico Minoru. The Hunter can be male or female and customized in appearance. Players will be able to choose The Hunter’s superpowers from over 40 different abilities.

The game will include 13 different heroes, including The Hunter. Combat will be turn-based similar to Firaxis Games’ XCOM series. Between combat missions, players will be managing their upgradeable base of operations called “The Abbey” which they can walk around in a third-person view to explore the grounds and interact with other heroes. Role-playing elements such as interaction with other characters will influence the gameplay and those heroes’ abilities. At the start of a new mission, players will be allowed to choose from three heroes to take into battle. They are dealt a deck of random ability cards which they are restricted to during the mission. Those abilities will affect either enemies, the player’s own heroes or the environment in order to defeat enemies.

Who is the Hunter in Marvel’s Midnight Suns?

Midnight Suns will feature 13 playable heroes. First and foremost is the Hunter, an original hero created for the game and your player character. You’ll be able to choose between a male and female Hunter and customize their appearance. As the Hunter, you’re the child of the game’s main villain: Lilith, Mother of Demons. It’s apparently not a warm relationship. You’re the only person who’s ever defeated Lilith in the past, having sealed her away ages ago before entering your own centuries-long slumber. She’s been resurrected by Hydra (surprise), so you’ve been thawed out to stop Mom from summoning an Elder God and doing an apocalypse.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns PC requirements

Marvel’s Midnight Suns already has an entry on Steam, but it doesn’t detail any of the PC requirements, unfortunately. However, we can draw some comparisons to the developer’s more recent game, XCOM: Chimera Squad.

XCOM: Chimera Squad’s minimum requirements are a 2.4-GHz Quad Core CPU, 4GB of RAM, and a 1GB AMD Radeon HD 7770 or NVIDIA GeForce 650 GPU. Those are pretty basic specs, which indicates that Marvel’s Midnight Suns might not be too graphically intensive despite it looking good.

The recommended requirements for Marvel’s Midnight Suns are a 3-GHz Quad Core CPU, 4GB of RAM, and a 2GB AMD Radeon HD R9 290 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 GPU. Those are also lightweight, so people who have one of the best cheap gaming laptops are probably not going to have an issue.

What is Marvel Midnight Suns going to be on?

According to the leak, Marvel’s Midnight Suns is due to launch on October 6 across PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, PS4, and PS5.

Is Marvel’s Midnight Suns free?

In case you missed it, 2K and Marvel Entertainment officially revealed Marvel’s Midnight Suns during Gamescom 2021 last week. The long-rumored Marvel title from the creators of XCOM is, as expected, a tactical role-playing video game set to release in March 2022.

Is Marvel’s Midnight Suns coop?

The game will seemingly be single-player only with no multiplayer being announced, at least not yet. Player’s will primarily control their own customer character known as a Hunter. But can also control classic Marvel characters such as Blade, Doctor Strange, and Iron Man in combat.
