Among Us is a online multiplayer social deduction game

What is ‘Among Us’
Among Us is an online strategy game and popular social deduction and deception game, that can be played on a PC, smartphone, or Nintendo Switch.
Why is Among Us so popular
“Among Us” was released in 2018 on iPhone and Android to quiet reception. But it made a huge splash in 2020 when popular
Twitch
streamers began playing it during the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing “Among Us” to the attention of millions of new players. This sudden spike in popularity led to new features and maps, and it has inspired countless internet memes.
The straightforward premise and controls make it easy to play and appeal to new and veteran gamers alike. Since the conflict in the game is largely social, players rely more on deduction and deception than precision or timing. It also helps that “Among Us” supports cross-platform play, meaning that you can play it with your friends even if you don’t all have the same console.
The social aspect of the game makes it entertaining to watch as well as play, which is part of how it became popular on Twitch.
It’s kind of like watching a cartoon-y, faster-paced version of “Clue.” The simple-but-cute character designs don’t hurt, either.
How to play ‘Among Us’
Among Us is basically a game of survival, where you either have to vote off all of the imposters and complete all the tasks, and the imposter has to kill all of the crewmates or stop them from completing the designated tasks to win.
If you are designated a crewmate your task is to find the imposter. Of course, being an imposter is a lot more fun as you can betray and kill your friends.
Play online Among Us
Play online or over local WiFi with 4-15 players as you attempt to prep your spaceship for departure, but beware as one will be an impostor bent on killing everyone!

The game was then ported to the Nintendo Switch in December 2020, and on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S in December 2021.
While the game was initially released in 2018 to little mainstream attention, it received a massive influx of popularity in 2020 due to many well-known Twitch streamers and YouTubers playing it.
A separate VR version of the game, Among Us VR, will be released for Quest 2, SteamVR, and PlayStation VR, developed by Schell Games.

A social deduction game is a game in which players attempt to uncover each other’s hidden role or team allegiance.
Commonly, these games are played with teams, with one team being considered “good” and another being “bad”.
