On January 6, 2024, Pokémon Go players were treated to a special event known as Rowlet Community Day. This three-hour event featured an increased spawn rate of the beloved Grass/Flying-type Pokémon, along with a boosted Shiny rate for Rowlet and its evolutions, Dartrix and Decidueye. Additionally, there were a number of special bonuses available during the event, such as increased candy for catching Pokémon and evolving Pokémon, and half the Stardust cost for trades.
Catching Shiny Rowlet
The Shiny rate for Rowlet during the Community Day event was increased to an estimated 1 in 24, which means that if you were actively playing during the event, you had a good chance of encountering a Shiny Rowlet. The shiny version of Rowlet has a reversed color scheme, with its normally green body turning white and its normally white head turning green.
Evolving Shiny Rowlet
Once you caught a Shiny Rowlet, you could evolve it into Dartrix and then Decidueye. Both Dartrix and Decidueye also had boosted Shiny rates during the event, with a Shiny Dartrix at an estimated 1 in 12 and a Shiny Decidueye at an estimated 1 in 60.
Special Bonuses
In addition to the increased Shiny rates, there were a number of other special bonuses available during the Rowlet Community Day event. These bonuses included:
- Double Catch Candy: Catching Pokémon during the event would reward double the normal amount of candy. This was a great opportunity to stock up on Rowlet candy, which you would need to evolve your Shiny Rowlet into Dartrix and Decidueye.
- Three Hour Lures and Incense: Lure Modules and Incense would last for three hours during the event, which gave you more time to encounter Pokémon.
- Half Stardust Cost for Trades: Trading Pokémon during the event would cost half the normal amount of Stardust. This was a great opportunity to trade with friends and complete the event research tasks.
- Triple Catch Stardust: Catching Pokémon during the event would reward triple the normal amount of Stardust. This was a great way to earn Stardust and level up your Pokémon.
Of a Feather
The Rowlet Community Day event also featured a special research task called “Of a Feather.” This task required players to catch 15 Rowlet, evolve a Rowlet into Dartrix, and evolve a Dartrix into Decidueye. Completing the task rewarded players with a Shiny Hoothoot encounter.
Community Day Research
In addition to the “Of a Feather” special research task, there were also three other Community Day research tasks available during the event. These tasks rewarded players with various items, such as Poké Balls, Stardust, and Rare Candy.
Here are some additional tips for maximizing your chances of catching a Shiny Rowlet during the Community Day event:
- Play for the full three hours. The more you play, the more chances you will have to encounter a Shiny Rowlet.
- Use Incense and Lures. Incense and Lures will attract Pokémon to your location, which will increase your chances of encountering a Shiny Rowlet.
- Trade with friends. Trading with friends is a great way to get more Shiny Rowlet, especially if you are not having luck finding them in the wild.
- Be patient. It may take some time to find a Shiny Rowlet, but don’t give up! The odds are in your favor.
