On July 9, 2023, a 15-year-old boy named Asaun Moreland was shot and killed on Church Street in Ambridge, Pennsylvania.
• Witnesses and video footage show that Moreland was stalked and followed by two shooters before he was shot four times, in what officials describe as an “execution-style” killing.
• An 18-year-old man named Nasean Hunt was arrested and charged with criminal homicide, conspiracy, and weapons offenses in connection with Moreland’s death. A second shooter remains at large.
• Authorities do not know the motive for the shooting or the relationship between Moreland and his killers. They say Moreland and Hunt were only acquaintances.
• Moreland’s shooting came less than 24 hours after another 15-year-old boy, Dahvea Sparrow, was fatally shot in nearby Aliquippa. Authorities are investigating if the two shootings are connected. So far, no arrests have been made in Sparrow’s case.
• Reward money totaling $10,000 has been offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in Sparrow’s shooting.
