Doyle Brunson, also known as “Texas Dolly”, was an American professional poker player who played professionally for over 50 years. He was a two-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event champion, a Poker Hall of Fame inductee, and the author of several books on poker. Brunson was the first player to win $1 million in poker tournaments. He won ten WSOP bracelets throughout his career, tied with Johnny Chan and Phil Ivey for second all time, behind Phil Hellmuth’s seventeen bracelets.
Brunson retired from professional poker in 2018, but he remained involved in the game as a commentator and author. He died on May 14, 2023, at the age of 89.
Brunson is considered to be one of the greatest poker players of all time. He was a pioneer of the game and helped to popularize it around the world. He is also credited with helping to develop the modern game of poker.
