Jenna Lyons is an American fashion designer and businesswoman who is best known as the former president and executive creative director of J.Crew from 2010 to 2017. She is credited with revitalizing the brand and making it a popular destination for affordable, preppy fashion.
In 2023, Lyons joined Blackstone’s new brand agency FundamentalCo as its executive creative director.
Lyons was born in New York City and studied fashion design at Parsons School of Design. After graduating, she worked as a designer for several fashion companies, including GAP and Ann Taylor. In 2008, she joined J.Crew as a senior designer and was quickly promoted to president and executive creative director in 2010.
Lyons’ tenure at J.Crew was marked by a number of successful initiatives, including the launch of the J.Crew Collection, the introduction of in-house menswear, and the expansion of the brand’s international presence. She was also credited with creating a cohesive brand aesthetic that was both modern and classic.
In 2017, Lyons left J.Crew after a reported disagreement with the company’s new CEO. She has since launched her own venture capital firm, Sundial Capital, and has been involved in a number of other fashion projects.
Lyons is a recipient of the CFDA’s Fashion Icon Award and the Accessories Council’s Estee Lauder Award. She has also been named to Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People list.
