London UFO crash
The London UFO crash, also known as the London UFO Disaster, was a catastrophic event that occurred in London in 2006. The incident involved the destruction of Big Ben by a UFO believed to have crashed into the River Thames in the city center. The BBC initially referred to the event as the London UFO crash, but later changed it to the London UFO Disaster after the government failed to respond to the situation.
The crash took place on March 6, according to most accounts, but some sources suggested that it occurred on June 28 of the same year. The spaceship entered London’s airspace from the southeast and flew over North Peckham before narrowly missing Tower Bridge. It then flew between St. Paul’s Cathedral and the City of London, approaching the Houses of Parliament before striking the Clock Tower of the Palace of Westminster and crash-landing into the River Thames.
The event caused a state of national emergency, with roads gridlocked and Central London closed down by the army. The country was plunged into widespread civilian panic, looting, and civil disturbance as reports emerged of assaults on suspected “aliens.” Police reinforcements were drafted in from across the country, and a telephone helpline was opened for any rumored extraterrestrial sightings.
The sudden disappearance of the UK Prime Minister and all the other Cabinet ministers stranded outside London led to emergency measures and the swift appointment of Joseph Green (MP for Hartley Dale and Chairman of the Parliamentary Commission for Monitoring of Sugar Levels in Exported Confectionery) as Acting Prime Minister. The Emergency Protocols were released into Green’s possession, and he summoned the world’s experts in extraterrestrial life to 10 Downing Street. The international response to the crisis resulted in a special session of the United Nations, with the UN Secretary General asking people to “watch the skies.”
The crash was later revealed to be part of a scheme by the Slitheen family to take over the Earth’s government. UNIT and the British government were heavily involved in the examination of the craft and its pilot. The aftermath of the crash and the Slitheen’s scheme were chronicled in several Doctor Who episodes and other media.
