oppenheimer sex scene leak
In July 2023, the release of Christopher Nolan’s film “Oppenheimer” sparked controversy due to its inclusion of several sex scenes featuring Florence Pugh and Cillian Murphy. The scenes were notable for being the first full nudity sex scenes ever shot on IMAX. However, the film’s sex scenes were censored in some regions, including India and Pakistan, in a bizarre manner that drew widespread attention.
There were rumors of leaked bedroom scenes of Florence Pugh and Cillian Murphy, but the videos could not be found anywhere on the internet. However, the lack of evidence led the publication to speculate that these were just rumors to gain attention from the public.
Insider also reported on the censorship of the film’s sex scenes, noting that various territories like India and Pakistan were showing an edited version of the film, covering up the sequences of sexual content. In particular, a scene in which Pugh’s character is seen having sex with Murphy’s J. Robert Oppenheimer in a boardroom full of people was completely cut in some regions. In addition, the Central Board of Film Certification in India removed the word “asshole” from the film’s subtitles and inserted anti-smoking PSAs at the beginning and middle of the movie.
Reporting that during the sex scenes themselves, Pugh’s face was zoomed in on and her back was blurred when she was being shot from behind. Most bizarrely, a digitally-rendered dress was composited onto Pugh’s body in one particular sequence, which included the actress completely nude sitting in a hotel room chair.
The censorship of the film’s sex scenes drew criticism from some viewers, who felt that it was an attack on artistic expression and freedom. Others felt that the censorship was justified given the sensitive nature of the film’s subject matter and the need to respect cultural and religious sensitivities in certain regions.
