USF data settlement
The University of South Florida (USF) has agreed to settle a class-action lawsuit alleging that the university violated student privacy laws by collecting and storing facial recognition data without student consent. Under the settlement, USF will delete all facial recognition data it has collected from students and will not collect or store any such data in the future. The university will also pay $400,000 to class members.
