Following the release of the first Vanguard & Warzone Season 3 teaser trailer, some players have spotted new weapons that could make their way to the game shortly.
Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone Confirm Season 3 and Tease
With Call of Duty: Warzone and Vanguard’s Season Two drawing to a close, many fans have been wondering what will be next for the island of Caldera. Season Two Reloaded brought new content for players towards the end of March this year, and now both the latest Call of Duty game and its battle royale are getting another update for the end of April, officially ending Season Two and bringing a new storyline involving nuclear weapons.
Despite being set in WWII, Call of Duty: Vanguard is not particularly known for perfect historical accuracy. Cosmetic items for guns and characters were not available during the Second World War, for example. From the looks of the Season 3 trailer, Call of Duty: Warzone and Vanguard will be taking events even further. According to the trailer, Nazis now have their hands on weapons of mass destruction, and have been looking to use them on Call of Duty’s fictional Caldera island.
In the trailer, the Harpy team is sent out to prevent the Nazis destroying Caldera, thus saving the setting for future Call of Duty: Warzone and Vanguard seasons. The most interesting piece of information for fans comes towards the end of the cinematic trailer, which shows that a new threat stronger than any weapons is coming to Call of Duty: Warzone. Many fans are speculating that the “Monsterverse” will be coming to Call of Duty, including the appearance of characters like Godzilla and King Kong.
Godzilla could appear in the game, considering how the King of Monsters draws his powers from nuclear energy in the most recent iteration of the character. The part of Caldera shown off in the trailer also featured what looked to be a jungle, similar to that of Skull Island which is King Kong’s residence. How these two monsters will interact with the gameplay in Call of Duty: Warzone and Vanguard is unknown, but it seems unlikely that the games will see a re-enactment of Kong vs Godzilla.
Some fans in the comments section of the trailer noted how Call of Duty: Warzone’s problems may have caused the game to think of something entirely new. For months now, players and streamers such as TimtheTatMan and Dr Disrespect have been critiquing both Call of Duty: Warzone and Vanguard, saying that the game’s Caldera map “feels dead.”
New guns in Vanguard & Warzone Season 3
Task Force Harpy is comprised of three Operators and although we don’t know their names as of yet, the post identifies them as “the masked lady,” “the lady with the helmet,” and “the man.” The user is confident in identifying the masked lady’s weapon as a Carl Gustaf m/45 but they don’t seem certain about the other two weapons.
Thankfully, a comment beneath the post points out that the three new weapons in the trailer resemble the Carl Gustaf m/45, Korovin AK-45, and the Mauser Selbstadler M1916. Of course, these are just educated guesses at the moment.
Carl Gustaf m/45
The Carl Gustaf m/45 is a Submachine Gun of Swedish design. If this rumored weapon does find its way to Vanguard and Warzone during Season 3, it’ll mean that players could receive a new SMG in each of Vanguard’s seasons.
Given how great the Welgun and Armaguerra have performed since their inclusions, the Carl Gustaf m/45 could prove to be yet another close-range powerhouse.
Korovin AK-45
Assault Rifles tend to be powerful meta weapons in Vanguard and Warzone so there’s a ton of excitement for the AK-45’s ability to possibly shake up the meta. The weapon is known for its slow fire rate which means it could potentially deal a ton of damage.
Mauser Selbstadler M1916
Lastly, the Mauser Selbstadler M1916 would fall into the Marksman Rifle category. This new addition seems plausible since Vanguard players have yet to receive a new Marksman Rifle.
The weapon is of German design and utilizes a semi-automatic firing mechanic. Precision will likely be a key factor in getting the most out of this weapon.
If these hunches turn out to be correct, it means Vanguard & Warzone players will be receiving an SMG, an Assault Rifle, and a Marksman Rifle in Season 3.
New weapons tend to shake up the Warzone and Vanguard meta, so keep an eye out for these potential inclusions to do the same if they arrive with the Season 3 update.
How to unlock Vanguard weapons in Warzone and how Vanguard guns work
Vanguard weapons are playable early in Warzone by completing tiers of the Season 6 Battle Pass. When you load up the game for the first time from October 12th, additional free tiers throughout the Battle Pass will appear.
As you would with the usual Black Ops: Cold War and Warzone rewards – which are layered underneath these additional rewards, and visible by pressing Up on the controller’s D-pad – you simply have to progress through the Battle Pass to unlock the respective weapons.
Once you have unlocked the weapons, note that they won’t work like traditional weapon unlocks. For now, you can only play the STG 44 and M1 Garand with fixed Blueprints. This means you cannot change attachments or camos.
However, using these weapons now will earn you Weapon XP, which can be used to upgrade those weapons when Vanguard arrives.
You can use both the M1 Garand and STG 44 early in Warzone.
Additionally, though the weapons are fixed Blueprints, these Blueprints have a higher-than-average number of attachments – seven to 10 each – to match the new limit you’ll see when Vanguard arrives.
“Think of these Weapon Blueprints as the blueprint for the foundational changes that Vanguard’s integration will provide to Warzone,” Activision explains.
“Through these Weapon Blueprints, you will see what’s possible with the additional attachment slots, and you’ll be able to decide if these Weapon Blueprints fit within your personal meta right now in Season Six.”
How to unlock the M1 Garand in Warzone
To unlock the M1 Garand, you must unlock the following Blueprints as part of the Season 6 Battle Pass:
Tier 24 – Bonerattler
Tier 64 – Warning Track
Note you cannot customise these weapons in the Gunsmith – instead, you must play with these fixed Blueprints until Vanguard arrives in full.
Vanguard guns in Warzone are available early ahead of Call of Duty Vanguard’s full release in November. Appearing in the game on October 12th, these are additional free tiers in Warzone and Black Ops: Cold War’s Season 6 Battle Pass. Specifically, you’ll be unlocking two weapons – the STG 44 and M1 Garand.
The Call of Duty Vanguard devs are bringing four new weapons to Warzone and Multiplayer in the Season 2 update including a KG M40 assault rifle and Armaguerra 43 SMG, among others. Sledgehammer and Raven Software are going big with Season 2 of Vanguard and Warzone.
Despite constant updates to the main battle royale map, Rebirth Island has remained largely unchanged since its introduction to Warzone during Black Ops Cold War Season 1 in December 2020.
Vanguard Royale is essentially the main Battle Royale mode in Warzone Pacific to match the theme of Call of Duty Vanguard. This means that only Vanguard weapons and equipment are usable in the mode, rendering Modern Warfare and Cold War weapons obsolete.
