The VALORANT developers have provided more insight on the upcoming Jett nerf and explained how it was the best way to adjust the agent without completely removing her from the meta.
Valorant Agent Jett
Sunwoo Han hails from South Korea, with possible links to the Insa-dong neighborhood in Seoul. As a chef in her early life, she was involved in an incident relating to her wind-like radiant powers at the restaurant she worked at, causing a “freak storm” that all but destroyed the building. Sunwoo fled the scene soon after.
Later on, Sunwoo would be recruited by the VALORANT Protocol to become its tenth agent, “Jett“. Whilst working for the Protocol however, an incident occurred in Venice that destroyed part of the city. When authorities issued warrants for the arrests of the perpetrators, one of them was revealed to look exactly identical to Jett. Though Jett herself had nothing to do with the mission, the rest of the world now believed that she was now a threat to them. She couldn’t explain that it wasn’t her to those she know outside of VALORANT, unable to even understand what was going on herself, and it left them feeling disgusted, horrified, and ashamed at her, forcing her to go on the run once more.
Jett is a fair-skinned, short young woman, being the smallest of the VALORANT agents prior to Neon’s addition. She has white hair, which she ties in a bun on the back. Her bangs are rather long and remain stably locked. Her eyes are a shade of blue, and she looks like she wears eyeliner. Jett’s armor has multiple symbols associated with wind such as the swirl on her right shoulder pad. Her blue, sleeveless jacket features a stylized depiction of the Tailwind logo through some clouds.

In an upcoming Valorant patch, the character Jett will be receiving some major nerfs to address issues some players have been facing.
With the introduction of patch 4.08, Jett’s dash (called Tailwind) will only work after a short delay once the ability key is pressed. Following that, Jett will activate a 12 second window where she is empowered to immediately dash on the next button press. The Tailwind charge is lost whether she dashes, or the window expires, but it can be regained with two kills.
Riot Games has identified a number of issues that currently come from Jett’s dash. One of the issues is that the dash had no prerequisite, meaning she could also escape power with no intentional decision making.
In turn, no other Valorant agent could match this play pattern. This made Jett feel like she played outside of the tactical cycle every other agent adheres to. So part of the plan for Jett is for her to retain as much aggressive power on offense as possible, but reduce her defensive op power.
In a press release, Riot explained why it took this approach to Jett with this latest patch. “Often when we nerf an Agent, we get questions on why we couldn’t just buff the rest of the roster,” explains Riot.
Riot went on to explain that buffing other agents could avoid some pain in the short term, “but jeopardises the tactical promise we think is key to Valorant.” The developer hopes that these changes for Jett “provide a window where Jett can feel as powerful and reactive, prior to the changes, when she calls her shots correctly.” A release date for patch 4.08 is yet to be confirmed.
Jett Lore
Jett is of South Korean descent. She was the 10th Agent to join the VALORANT Protocol, and is among the youngest of its members.
Jett is often regarded as having a ‘toxic’ attitude towards people. she prefers to do things her own way, without relying on a team, and is greatly confident in her own abilities. Jett’s immense self-confidence can come across as arrogance, and feel as if she is disregarding her comrade’s safety, however her voice lines indicate that she is opening up to those around her. They suggest that she does care for her friends, but doesn’t know how to show it.
Jett’s Radiant powers allows her to control the wind, which she uses in various forms to aid her in combat. Jett’s primary usage of wind is to increase her maneuverability. Updraft and Tailwind allow her to use the wind to propel herself either vertically or laterally. She can also use the wind to dramatically slow her fall, allowing her to ‘glide’ through the air, provided that she starts off from a height. Using Cloudburst, she can also whip up the air in an area into a small cloud that can block vision. Her Blade Storm is a much more precise usage of her powers, in which she uses the wind to levitate a set of 5 Kunai Daggers, and propel them forward at a high velocity at will.
Jett was canonically hired into the VALORANT Protocol of α-Earth before the events of DUELISTS, but she had not met Phoenix yet. This is because the Protocol functioned in a fundamentally different way, prioritizing sending its Agents on solo missions instead of as teams. Indeed, it was only during DUALITY that the agents worked together and won missions as a team instead of as individuals for the first time.

Ability 2 — Updraft (150 Creds): INSTANTLY propel Jett high into the air.
Signature Ability — Tailwind (1 free, 2 kill recharge): INSTANTLY propel Jett in the direction she is moving. If Jett is standing still, she will propel forward.
Ultimate Ability — Blade Storm (7 Points): EQUIP a set of highly accurate throwing knives that recharge on killing an opponent. FIRE to throw a single knife at your target. ALTERNATE FIRE to throw all remaining daggers at your target.
How to play Jett in valorant
Updraft comes with two charges, and Tailwind only comes with one charge, so you’ll have to be incredibly savvy about how you deploy each ability. However, if you use them effectively, you can get a charge of Tailwind back after two frags.
If you’re all about taking the fight to your opposite number, then combining both Updraft and Tailwind will often give you an edge. If you find yourself in a tight spot and want to avoid being traded by an enemy, you can hightail out of there with both of these abilities.
You can also use Jett’s floating passive to jump to ledges other players typically can’t reach. Use this to get new angles on your opponents they wouldn’t typically check.
Over the course of Valorant’s short history, Jett has become the game’s designated Operator user as well. This is because she can take aggressive peeks, grab a frag, and dash to safety. Although this has progressively been nerfed, it’s still the ideal way to play Jett.

Jett is easily the best duelist in VALORANT, providing incredible value when used correctly. Players can outmaneuver opponents with ease, escaping danger or positioning themselves for easy kills.
Jett is a VALORANT agent who specializes in mobility and assassinations. Like a true ninja, this South Korean agent can dash short distances to catch-up enemies or escape dangerous situation, and even propel herself upwards to reach highground places and surprise lurking targets who think they’re safe up there.
