Yuna is a playable character in Final Fantasy X, and the main protagonist of Final Fantasy X-2.
Who is Yuna in Final Fantasy?
In Final Fantasy X, Yuna becomes a summoner like her father before her, and embarks on a pilgrimage to expel Sin, a monstrous creature that terrorizes the world of Spira. She meets Tidus who teaches her there is more to life than sacrifice. In Final Fantasy X-2, Yuna is a sphere hunter on a personal quest to uncover the mystery behind a movie sphere, and becomes involved in rising political tensions and an ancient force that threaten to end Spira’s Eternal Calm.
Yuna in Final Fantasy X is the only character who can summon aeons into battle, with her Overdrive allowing her to summon an aeon with their Overdrive already full. Her Sphere Grid path grants her curative and defensive White Magic abilities, and she equips rods and rings. Her Celestial Weapon, Nirvana, gives all her spells one MP cost. In Final Fantasy X-2, Yuna’s default dressphere is a Gunner, and her special dressphere is the Floral Fallal.
In Final Fantasy X-2, Yuna has a new lease on life. Though still unflinchingly polite, soft-spoken, and driven, she is now athletic, cosmopolitan, outspoken, and playful. Yuna has not only learned to think and desire for herself, but has developed a go-getter attitude, willing to jump headfirst into danger. She considers resolving issues through creative thinking, only considering violence as a last resort. From her time as a summoner, Yuna is determined to never again let anyone use her as a means to an end.
Yuna vs. Tidus | Final Fantasy X-2 HD Remaster
Tidus constantly using Blitz Ace and spamming Hero Drink at critical HP are the primary reasons this became very long. For the record, this was the first time we saw him using Hero’s Drink as my usual battles with him doesn’t involve any of that.
He’s susceptible to Power Breaks / Power Eraser. Making advantage of that will allow you to greatly reduce the damage from Blitz Ace and Spiral Cut so make use of it. The same goes for Armor Break.
Happy to make use of the ability Sentinel again from the Warrior dressphere once again. This ability has helped us lot back then during our Yuna solo boss runs, especially against the maxed level Experiment boss in Djose Temple.
The Abilities of Yuna in Final Fantasy
Yuna is the only party member who can summon aeons, and the only one with abilities outside the Sphere Grid. When summoned, an aeon replaces the current party in battle and can be controlled, having special attacks and an Overdrive of its own. With the Summoner’s Soul and Aeon’s Soul key items the player can teach aeons new abilities and raise their stat attributes at the expense of various items.
Yuna’s default position on the Sphere Grid runs near Rikku’s and Tidus’s, and her representing color is white. Yuna has no Skill nodes and one Special Ability node. The “Nul” spells and Pray are both quick to cast, and act on the whole party.
The Appearance of Yuna in Final Fantasy
At first look, Yuna does not seem to have any special features, but the details make the difference. She has heterochromia, meaning that her eyes are of two different colours. Her left eye is blue like her father’s, but her right is green, an Al Bhed trait from her mother. In FFX she wears a dress that looks quite plain from a distance, but a closer look reveals all types of emblems on the giant bow around her waist. A ring is on her finger and a flower-like pattern runs along her blue skirt. She has blue and green braids around a lock of her hair.
In Final Fantasy X-2, she has dropped her dress for a more open and revealing style. Clearly a change due to her more open and free lifestyle. It would also seem that she has adopted Tidus’s look in a lot of ways, such as the feathered-out hair, the shorts, and of course, the Zanarkand Abes symbol on her chest. She also has a long braid wrapped in ribbon down her back.
Final Fantasy 10 Yuna Outfit
Character design is important when it comes to creating a memorable character, but, of course, so is picking out their unique outfit. In Yuna’s case, it was chosen for a particular reason. Her iconic look, which is a long-sleeved kimono aka a Furisode, was chosen because Nomura essentially wanted the outfit to flow while she performed the dance of the Sending.
In action, it does flow beautifully as Yuna dances and was a great choice and a look that has become iconic with her character. It also seems to be the look of choice for most Yuna cosplayers.
The Weapon of Yuna in Final Fantasy Is Based On A Religion Practiced In Real Life
Since her outfit was chosen so carefully it would also make sense that her weapon would be as well. The design of her staff is based on ones used by those who practice Buddhism. The staff they use is known as Khakkahara. To incorporate and combine Yuna with that is pretty neat. This is something not as well-known about her compared to other tidbits.
It seems that the developers really wanted the symbolism of Yuna and Tidus being two halves of a whole to be hammered in throughout the entire game, and this can be seen in the manner in which their Ultimate Weapons are upgraded.
Yuna’s Ultimate Weapon is Nirvana, whose potential can only be unlocked after getting the Moon Crest. So, it’s obvious that Tidus’ Caladbolg is a weapon that can only be upgraded after getting the Sun Crest.
Do Tidus and Yuna end up together?
After the battle, Tidus starts to fade away and Yuna tells him that she loves him. … Tidus and Yuna continued their relationship and lived together in Besaid for a while. However, Yuna eventually found Tidus to be « too different » from before and they broke up within a year.
The final scene with Yuna and Tidus is easily one of the most heartbreaking scenes in the entire game, with Tidus bidding farewell to Yuna and the rest of the gang as he joined the Farplane along with Auron and Jecht.
While Yuna in Final Fantasy says “I love you” to Tidus in the English dub, she simply bids him farewell in the Japanese version. This is because Japanese culture isn’t really overt when it comes to describing feelings of intimacy.
Yuna is the secondary protagonist in Final Fantasy 10 as well as the main protagonist in Final Fantasy 10-2. She is the love interest to Tidus. She is the daughter to Lord Braska, who defeated Sin 10 years ago, bringing the Calm.
Depending on the player’s development during the game, the fayth will appear to Yuna at the end and tell her that they can make Tidus return to her. He then appears in Spira, and he and Yuna are reunited.
