Xiao: Doombane Genshin Impact
GENSHIN IMPACT HAS PICKED UP ITS EXPANSION PACE. Genshin Impact 2.7 brings with it the latest xiao build genshin impact, which just might be the fastest a banner has ever rerun. Xiao first launched as a five-star Anemo polearm user following the additions of genshin impact characters like Ganyu, Zhongli, and Albedo. He was one of the most popular five-star additions next to Venti and, unlike the free-spirited bard, continues to inarguably be one of the strongest characters in the game. Even with that in mind, is he worth spending your Primogems on? Here’s what we know about the upcoming Xiao banner.
Is Xiao a good character in Genshin Impact?
There’s no way around this. Xiao is incredible. He’s a massive boon to any party he’s in and trivializes most Genshin Impact content in the same way Venti Genshin Impact did when the game launched. His plunging attacks deal absurd amounts of damage and are easily accessible when you activate Xiao’s Elemental Burst. Fortunately, his Elemental Burst has a very snappy cooldown time. When testing the character, I found it was usually available seconds after Xiao uses it. You’ll be in your Elemental Burst mode more often than not when you’re using Xiao.
Xiao comes with an innately high critical hit rate as well, ensuring that he’ll hit rather hard most of the time. Everything here is to say Xiao is one of the best DPS in Genshin Impact even now.
When Xiao’s in your party, he’ll also make certain things easier. Characters in the same party as Xiao consume 25 percent less stamina while climbing. If you pair him with Venti, you’ll likely be able to scale any wall with ease.
How old is Genshin Impact Xiao?
Xiao, like Ganyu and Zhongli, has been around since the Archon War which makes them all thousands of years old. Originally Xiao was actually serving another god but was treated cruelly by him.
It wasn’t until Zhongli intervened that Xiao was set free from his grasp. Since being freed, Xiao has vowed to serve Zhongli and protect the people of Liyue from danger. Given his age and life experience, his stoic exterior is starting to make sense.
Who is Genshin Impact Xiao’s love interest?
Xiao is a bit hard to talk to, but it is noted in his story that he loves almond tofu. In fact, when he goes to the Wangshu Inn to rest, he is greeted with a bowl of the delicious dish. The innkeeper goes as far as noting that when he is eating it, he has a huge smile on his face.
This seems to be one of the few things left in the world that is able to make Xiao truly happy again. Hard same Xiao, hard same.
Best Xiao build in Genshin Impact
Xiao is an excellent DPS character with a fun playstyle, who is most effective with a good team to support his energy and health needs.
Xiao’s Elemental Burst comes with health and energy downsides.
As Xiao is a high DPS character whose Elemental Burst costs a lot of energy, he is best paired with a fellow Anemo character, like Sucrose or Venti, so they can recharge Xiao’s energy quickly. You’ll also want to have a party member who can heal Xiao, like Jean or Bennett, as he can lose a lot of health while his Elemental Burst is active.
It’s important to play Xiao on the field, using his plunge attacks and Elemental Burst as much as possible, only swapping to other characters when you need to recharge energy or start a healing field. If you swap to another character while Xiao’s Elemental Burst is active, the effect will end and you will lose out on causing damage to enemies.
The best Xiao Artifacts in Genshin Impact will either raise his attack or elemental damage stats. It’s best to try for the four piece Vermillion Hereafter set, but any Artifact that boosts his damage is a good substitute.
Alternatively, if you don’t have a team that can help with Xiao’s energy needs, equipping some Artifacts that help with energy recharge is recommended. This does lower his DPS potential, but it’s better to activate his Elemental Burst as much as possible to get more opportunities to cause high Anemo damage. If running a low energy recharge team, you should take two sub DPS characters instead to raise Xiao’s attack damage as much as possible.
How to get Xiao in Genshin Impact
Xiao is a limited character, so he’s only available at certain times. Xiao made his debut in February 2021, and had his first re-run in January 2022. That’s an unusual but not unheard of length of time for a Genshin Impact character to return, and we might hope to see him again at least once more before 2022 is over. However, for the time being, he’s once again unavailable.

Genshin Impact Xiao Banner characters and rates
The Xiao Banner in Genshin Impact has the reclusive Anemo Adepti as its featured 5-Star character. As with all character event Banners, the Xiao Banner, Invitation to Mundane Life, also features 4-Star characters who receive boosted drop rates.
Xiao isn’t the only 5-Star you can get from the Invitation to Mundane Life Banner. However, With the 50/50 system in place, if you don’t pull Xiao the first time you successfully Wish for a 5-Star item, you are guaranteed to get him the second time you pull a 5-Star item.
There’s also the Pity and Soft Pity system, so you are more likely to get Xiao after your 75th Wish, and are guaranteed a 5-Star item at 90 Wishes, if you haven’t already got one. In the very worst case scenario, you will get Xiao after your 180th Wish, but these are very unlikely odds.
These Pity and 50/50 systems are shared with Yelan’s Banner, so if you have pulled a 5-Star weapon, or character other than Xiao or Yelan from either Banner, you can guarantee Xiao will be your next 5-Star pull when Wishing on Invitation to Mundane Life.
4-Star Characters on Genshin Impact Xiao Banner are easier to get. Xiao is only guaranteed after 180 Wishes, whereas a featured 4-Star character is guaranteed after 20 Wishes. The featured 4-Star characters have their own 50/50 system, so if you don’t pull Barbara, Noelle, or Yanfei the first time you pull a 4-Star weapon or character, one of them will be guaranteed the next time you successfully Wish for a 4-Star item.
Despite his appearance as a young man, occasional legends about him have been documented in ancient books for thousands of years. He is especially fond of Wangshu Inn’s Almond Tofu.
Xiao was once enslaved by an evil god and suffered immensely under his rule until finally regaining his freedom at Rex Lapis’ hand.
This inner suffering is present in the design of his skills: when Xiao uses “Bane of All Evil,” he dons his mask, which continually enhances his combat abilities but also continually drains his health. This demonstrates the great suffering he must endure as a consequence of using this power.
While Xiao has a favorite food much like most playable Genshin Impact characters, he also has that one food he loathes. Those would be dumplings of any sort.
