Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online for PS5 and Xbox Series

Grand Theft Auto V is a 2013 action-adventure game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It is the seventh main entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, following 2008’s Grand Theft Auto IV, and the fifteenth instalment overall.

Set within the fictional state of San Andreas, based on Southern California, the single-player story follows three protagonists—retired bank robber Michael De Santa, street gangster Franklin Clinton, and drug dealer and gunrunner Trevor Philips—and their attempts to commit heists while under pressure from a corrupt government agency and powerful criminals. The open world design lets players freely roam San Andreas’ open countryside and the fictional city of Los Santos, based on Los Angeles.

Is Grand Theft Auto V free?

GTA Online is included free with all copies of GTA 5, which is also known as Grand Theft Auto 5. This applies to both the PS5 and PS4 versions of the online crime caper. Ultimately, what this means is that you’ll need to own a copy of Rockstar’s game to play online. You’ll also need an active subscription to PS Plus.

However, there are some additional options available to you. A standalone version of GTA Online is available on PS5 from 15th March, 2022, which includes the full version of GTA Online without GTA 5’s single player campaign. Furthermore, until 14th June, 2022, this will be available to download for free on PS5, although you will still need an active PS Plus subscription to play.

Once you have access to a copy of GTA 5, or the standalone version of GTA Online, there are no additional costs associated with the game, besides ensuring you have an active PS Plus subscription. How much does Grand Theft Auto V cost?

Grand Theft Auto V (and by a vast extension, Grand Theft Auto Online), has been a major golden goose for Rockstar Games, as its massive popularity has managed to withstand years within an ever changing game industry while surviving an increasing wave of newer game titles from 2013 to 2022. Now with Rockstar Games having their sights set on releasing their flagship title on both the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms, many players who already owned the game on previous generation platforms are wondering if they will be able to upgrade their older versions of the game for next-gen consoles for free.

And unfortunately, this will not be the case. According to the Xbox and PS Store pages, there will be no free upgrades for previous owners of the game. However, there will be several discounts available for those that choose to pre-order the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions.

After the June 14th deadline, GTA V bundled with GTA Online has priced at $40 USD, while GTA Online will be available as a standalone purchase for $20 USD, for both the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions.

While the next-gen versions of Grand Theft Auto V will have some new enhancements here and here, the game will more or less play and look nearly the same as it did back in 2013. While a free upgrade would have been a much better offer to give to loyal GTA V fans that have stuck with the game throughout the years, it’s hard to deny that a hefty discount is not so bad either.

Grand Theft Auto 5 on PlayStation 5 can be purchased digitally and preloaded from the PlayStation Store. At launch, the game will cost $9.99 (75% off its standard price of $39.99) through June 14. To find GTA 5 for PS5 on the PlayStation Store, just look for the game page that has the PS5 logo — but if you’re only seeing the PS4 version, select the “…” button, where you’ll see a full list of versions of GTA 5. The game requires 86.84 GB of storage pace on PS5.

Grand Theft Auto Online on PlayStation 5 can be purchased digitally and preloaded from the PlayStation Store. At launch, the game will be free through June 14. After that, GTA Online will cost $19.99. To find GTA Online for PS5 on the PlayStation Store, just look for the game page that has the PS5 logo. The stand-alone version of GTA Online requires 86.84 GB of storage space on PS5.

PlayStation Plus subscribers will get GTA$1 million in virtual currency for GTA Online through March 14, 2022.

Grand Theft Auto V Vehicles

Grand Theft Auto V has more vehicles than in any other Grand Theft Auto game to date, with a variety of vehicles, including aeroplanes, helicopters, cars, utility vehicles, emergency service vehicles, motorcycles, and jet skis. Players are able to fly planes, which was a cut feature from Grand Theft Auto IV because of the limited size of the map, but the feature is now available in Grand Theft Auto V because of the much larger, open world map. There are also submarines that players are able to use to explore the depths of the Pacific Ocean. The Rhino from previous GTA titles has returned, including a new complex aiming system and a realistic depiction of a tank. A new feature also allows the player to roll-over a vehicle when the car is flipped upside down.

Like all previous games, a wide array of vehicles spawn driving around the map that can be stolen. To give the game a sense of realism and make the map feel more alive, various vehicles (as well as pedestrians) spawn in scenarios to make them more interactive with the map, such as delivery vans pulling out of alleyways, emergency vehicles responding, or vehicles pulling in and out of driveways. This behaviour was present in GTA IV to a lesser extent and is revamped in GTA V, even more so with the enhanced release of the game, where modified vehicles can spawn driving around, as well as the presence of the fully-controllable Jet, among other planes flying high above San Andreas.

Grand Theft Auto V Lester’s Assassination Missions

Once you receive the Hotel Assassination mission – which you must complete to progress the game, you will then periodically receive other Assassination missions as marked by the Green “L” on the map. For each of these missions, you will be able to invest in companies that are affected by your actions during the mission – with all three characters. To maximize your payoff from these investments, it is advised to leave the optional missions following the Hotel Assassination until after the main game has been completed.

Once you have completed the game, you will have wads more cash to invest in the stocks and the sum made will be astronomical compared to the paltry amount of cash you have to invest at the time of the missions appearing.

For all of the Assassination Missions in Grand Theft Auto V, if you don’t see a rise in the Return Percentage after 10 or so minutes of real-time, go to your safe house and sleep and check the market again. Keep in mind that the stock market doesn’t operate on the weekends, so stocks won’t change during those times.
