Malenia, Blade of Miquella is a Boss in Elden Ring. Born as a twin to Miquella, Malenia is known as the most powerful of the Empyreans. Wielding a prosthetic arm and leg, Malenia is located in Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree. This boss is optional, as players do not need to defeat it in order to advance in Elden Ring.
How To Beat Elden Ring Malenia
Many players face immense difficulties in beating Malenia and stay stuck on her for a long time. For this reason, we’ve compiled this cheese method for Malenia, Blade of Miquella, you’ll also be able to best her second form using the techniques we tell you.
There are a lot of Ashen Remains available for you in Elden Ring, but the ‘Mimic Tear’ allows you to summon an identical twin of your own. When summoned, your mimic tear would have all of the same spells, armor set and weaponry as your Tarnished character.
Moreover, your twin even has its own flasks, which means it would be able to stay alive for longer periods of time. You do not require any FP to summon your mimic tear, rather it uses a part of health. Mimic tears will benefit you greatly in your fight against Malenia as she is very fast and at times, you’ll require her to look the other way to get in an attack. Plus the strategies that we’re going to lay out, necessarily require you to use mimic tears in your fight. It is highly recommended that you upgrade your mimic tear to level 9 or 10 before initiating this fight.
After beating Radhan and gaining access to Nokron, proceed with your way, and at one point, you’ll have to fight the mimic tear itself, which is a clone of your tarnished. After beating this boss, proceed further until you reach the Ancestral Woods sight of grace. Continue with your journey and after you reach a rooftop courtyard, head eastwards across another ledge then go through a windown into the chapel. Unlock the chapel wall and kill an enemy to reach the chst that contains the Mimic Tears.

Elden Ring Patch Fixes Malenia Bug And More
From Software released a new patch today that fixes a Malenia bug that unintentionally made the boss fight much harder.
Dubbed Update Version 1.04.1, this patch fixes a bug with the Malenia, Blade of Miquella boss fight in Elden Ring’s endgame that allowed her to heal herself at any time if you were in online co-op. This was a problem because Malenia is only supposed to self-heal upon damaging you, in a vampiric way. That she was able to self-heal at really any time was causing quite the conundrum for players looking to defeat her, who is already arguably the most challenging boss in the entire game. This new patch fixes that fortunately, and it brings with it a few other fixes too.
Here’s what Update Version 1.04.1 brings to Elden Ring:
- Fixed a bug in which the effect duration of the Cerulean Hidden Tears was revised downward
- Fixed a bug with Malenia, Blade of Miquella in which her HP was not healed correctly in the online multiplayer environment
- Fixed a bug that causes some bosses to die at unintended times.
- Fixed a bug that prevented the boss “Elden Beast” from working properly under certain circumstances
- Fixed some texts
“The version number of this update shown at the lower right corner of the Title Screen will be as follows: App Ver. 1.04.1, Regulation Ver. 1.04.2,” the patch notes read.
As expected, in order to play online in Elden Ring, you must have this update installed.
Elden Ring Malenia Tips & Strategies
The Rivers of Blood Unique Skill: Corpse Piler is so effective on Malenia that if you are finding the fight extremely difficult, you should consider being reborn to use it. Silver Tear Mask can give you +8 Arcane if you need bolstering there. Don’t neglect Mind when you are reborn. Using the Spread Out taunt can allow the player to avoid most of Malenia’s attacks, though don’t stay down for too long because her slam can still hit you.
Malenia, Blade of Miquella is a two phase fight, with the second phase beginning once her health is reduced to zero for the first time. Malenia has an active healing effect throughout the fight which provides her with 300 to 400 HP per hit, even if the attack is blocked.
Throughout phase one, she is extremely mobile, being able to close gaps through attacks and dashes. Of the notable attacks, one is an unparriable kick with high poise damage; another is a series of three rapid slashes which is then followed by an additional slash that she sometimes delays. When Malenia goes below 75% HP, she unlocks her Waterfowl Dance attack. This attack is indicated by a huge leap, where she then dives on you with a series of three spinning AoE slashes. This ability is deadly to even the tankiest builds and can be extremely hard to deal with.
How To Find Malenia Boss in Elden Ring
In short, to reach Malenia boss, you will need two Haligtree medallions that are split are half; one can be accessed through the Village of the Albinaurics and the other through Castle Sol. Then, venture across the Grand Life of Rold; you go to the Haligtree Dungeon, which will lead you to the Malenia Boss fight.
The Haligtree Medallion (Right) can be accessed when players are moving their way across the Village of the Albinaurics, a village located a little bit across the Liurnia of the Lakes. When moving across the lake, the player needs to keep moving forward until they come across a small slope/hill laden with dead people.
Going into the village, skip the few houses and kill any enemies that you might feel like looting, and you will come across a small pot. Using your abilities, hit on the pot once, magically transforming the pot into an NPC named “Albus.” After completing a few dialogue options, Albus will hand you the first half of the Haligtree Medallion required to access the Elden Ring Malenia Location.
Players can find the other half of the Haligtree Medallion in a castle known as “Castle Sol,” which the players can come across when they are venturing around the Mountaintops of the Giants. Adventurers will need to venture forth a little northeast to come across the castle when they take the bridge north from the Stargazer’s Ruins.
When players come across the main entrance, they will encounter a “Lion Guardian,” doing rounds at the main entrance. You can easily defeat the Lion Guardian and head inside using your abilities. Heading a little bit northwest will lead you through a pathway of several wooden barricades, and eventually, adventurers will come across a room that will have countless Skeletal Slimes. In this way you can find Malenia boss in Elden Ring.
Malenia is located at the bottom of Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree. Her arena is immediately down the stairs from the Haligtree Roots site of grace [Map Link]. See Malenia’s location on the Elden Ring Map here.
There are many bosses in Elden Ring that you can find difficult to beat. But from all of them Malenia, Blade of Miquella is by far the hardest boss in Elden Ring. Malenia is the definition of FromSoftware boss difficulty. Malenia has fast long combos and incredible speed, and with this, her attacks recover her health.
You can use some of the best weapons, especially the ranged ones to take her out. Dodging and using Ashen Remains will be your best friend, alongside ranged weapons to stay at a safe distance and take her out. Once you are done defeating her, you can loot it for 200000 Runes and Loretta’s War Sickle weapon.
Malenia is a surprisingly easy boss to miss, hiding at the end of a massive, hidden area that itself is hidden behind another massive, hidden area. You will find her at the root of Miquella’s Haligtree, which is hidden in the Consecrated Snowfield.
