Raze is the 12th agent to join the VALORANT Protocol. She is a tech user hailing from Salvador, Brazil. She enjoys blowing things up and having an advantage over her opponent.
How to play Raze in Valorant?
No different from every other Duelist, Raze won’t be all too effective if you’re playing overly passive. Without any vision-obscuring abilities or blinding utility, Raze shouldn’t be the most aggressive flanker on a team. It can be difficult to win 1v1s without this kind of kit. Conversely, she also shouldn’t be sitting in the backlines and letting her team push ahead. There’s a perfect middle ground to strive for.
Abilities should largely be used to push the pace, taking new space for your team as you advance. For instance, deploying a Boom Bot around a corner or into unknown territory can certainly be helpful. But you can get far more value from the ability if Raze or another Valorant Agent pushes up along with this explosive drone — enemies will be overwhelmed having to shoot down both the deadly robot and another player at once!
It’s that type of momentum that can leave opposing teams struggling. The same logic applies when using her Blast Packs. Rather than throwing them out for a low amount of damage, Raze can drop them at her feet – or even on nearby walls – and use the detonation to reach new areas. Just be wary of how short the distance of her throw is, as you’re not able to chuck these explosives very far.
Enemy Agents might be holding down a particular angle. Instead of jiggle-peeking it, Raze in Valorant can explode well beyond their expected fire and catch them by surprise. Before they’re able to readjust their aim, Raze can be in prime position to shoot them down.

How to use Raze in Valorant
Raze has one of the highest damage output agents in the game. While her kit all explodes for damage, there are more eccentric ways you can utilize her.
Blast Pack is Raze’s ability to propel herself up or even forward. It depends on the timing and the position you are angled to the Blast Pack that can propel you either higher up or further in front. It can also deal 75 damage to enemy players but it is not recommended as throwing it to opponents can get you killed.
Blast Pack also has friendly fire and can only last 5 seconds on the ground. The timer starts when it is thrown and not when it has landed. You can also stall time by placing it outside of exit points as your enemies will not be able to clear it in certain angles.
The Blast Pack of Raze in Valorant can use strategies that is like Jett’s Updraft but can also be used in very creative plays.
Paint Shells is great for checking corners and it could also be an area controlling ability because of the delayed cluster grenades.
The cluster grenades do not detonate unless they hit the ground so if the Paint shell is thrown in the air, it can be a small airstrike of cluster grenades. You can pull this off while aggressively pushing for a kill and quickly throwing it upwards while running. It is better to do this if there are multiple corners to weave around.
Boom Bot is mostly used for disrupting the enemy and works best if you aggressively peek after setting up the Boom Bot of Raze in Valorant. This forces the enemy to retreat even further or he will have to choose between getting blasted by the Boom Bot while trying to duel you.
Are killjoy and Raze a couple in Valorant?
A few months ago, VALORANT launched a new character, German engineer Killjoy. Although she specializes in using turrets to defend her territory, her design—submachine gun aside—perfectly mimics the hipster energy of a pretty stranger you might encounter at a local coffee shop.
Raze, on the other hand, is a member of VALORANT’s original roster. She’s a ballistics expert from Brazil, and in contrast to coolheaded techie Killjoy, is energetic, positively carefree on the battlefield, and puts her all into her homemade kit. At first glance, the two characters a classic case of opposites attract, but this ship has canon basis. Killjoy has a line where she admits Raze’s “tinkering” has improved her own devices, and even seriously tells Raze to take care on the battlefield.
It’s not just fans that have been taken in by these two characters’ relationship. VALORANT concept artist Anh Dang posted art of Raze and Killjoy sprawled side by side, with Raze working on a little robot and Killjoy watching almost warmly. Fans leaped on this piece of art immediately; although not necessarily canon, art from a member of the VALORANT team always carries a certain weight in the community.
Furthermore, Dang’s caption, “Do you think like…Killjoy and Raze work on stuff together”, paired with the pleading emoji, implies Dang also hopes for a warm relationship between the two. Interestingly, Raze and Killjoy’s friendly rivalry and relationship seems to have an unlikely source: the 2014 Fifa World Cup semifinals, where Germany (Killjoy’s home country) and Brazil (Raze’s home country) squared off in an unforgettable battle. Germany’s team stomped Brazil on Brazil’s hometurf, a loss that Riot Games may have cheekily slid into VALORANT.
How is the appearance of Raze in Valorant?
Raze is a woman with a brown skin tone, always sporting her orange cap worn backwards accompanied by her headphones. Her hair is arranged in multiple braids held together by gold-colored hair rollers. She wears a sleeveless, orange top that exposes her midriff and is covered by a chestplate with the word ‘BOOM’ spray-painted on the front. She wears dark colored pants with a splatter of paint by the left thigh, held by a strap wherein her paintshell grenades are attached.
The one-woman party from Bahia, Raze in Valorant is always playful, impulsive, and spontaneous. She radiates chaotic energy and creates havoc on the battlefield, destroying every obstacle that is blocking her path. According to Sage, she can be impatient and won’t stick to plans. She is notoriously cheeky, as seen when she earned Cypher’s ire after constantly breaking his gadgets.

In conclusion, Raze is one of the strongest Agents in Valorant who can deal a lot of damage to the opponents. There is very little to counter Raze in ranked games, so the best advice is to shoot on sight, or make her waste her abilities and target her during the use of them.
Out of all the agents on VALORANT’s expansive roster, there aren’t many who pack as hard of a punch as Raze. The damage-focused duelist is one of the strongest characters in the game and brings far more tools to a team composition than almost any other agent on the roster.
Honestly, playing as Raze is simple. What makes one of the beginner-friendly agents in Valorant is the fact that her abilities can tear through the enemy team’s health! That means you don’t have to land as many headshots.
