The next pocket monster joining the Pokémon Unite roster is Espeon, the Psychic-type evolution of Eevee. TiMi Studio Group’s free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena lets players control an ever-expanding lineup of Pokémon. Recently Pokémon Unite leaks revealed Espeon as a playable character, and now TiMi Studio Group has confirmed the Sun Pokémon will soon arrive in all its psychic glory.
Is Espeon in Pokemon Unit?
Espeon, a Psychic-type Pokémon from Generation II, will arrive on Pokémon UNITE’s Aeos Island as a Ranged Attacker.
This Pokémon is one of Eevee’s final forms and will join Sylveon, another evolution of Eevee, which became a playable character in Pokémon UNITE in October 2021. Espeon is being conceived as an Attacker, which is generally a champion that inflicts a lot of damage from range but has way less HP than Defenders and Supporters.
Espeon will be the 35th champion in Pokémon UNITE and the MOBA’s 11th Attacker alongside Cinderace, Cramorant, Decidueye, Duraludon, Gardevoir, Greninja, Alolan Ninetales, Pikachu, and Sylveon.
It’s unclear how much the game will charge for Espeon’s Unite License, but new champions have been costing 10,000 Aeos Coins at launch. There’s also a possibility that TiMi Studio and The Pokémon Company make a special event for Espeon that will allow players to secure their Unite License in exchange for completing missions.
The developers of Pokémon UNITE will likely tease Espeon’s moveset over the course of the coming days, should they repeat the strategy that was used in the past. So far, there’s no official footage of Espeon, but notable data miner ElChicoEevee has already displayed Espeon on his YouTube channel.
Pokémon UNITE did not reveal whether the addition of Espeon to the game will also come with a round of balance changes to the other playable characters.

This Ranged Attacker will use its psychic power to predict your victory! Espeon arrives in Pokémon UNITE on 5/16.
When will Espeon release in Pokemon Unite?
Sylveon won’t be the only Eeveelution in Pokemon Unite for much longer. Eevee is in part special because of the multiple options it can evolve into, and that is finally being represented in the MOBA. The only Eeveelution currently available in the game is Sylveon, which was released in September 2021. However, Eevee will soon have another option to evolve into once it reaches level 4.
The newest character to be added to the rapidly growing roster of Pokemon Unite will be Espeon. This will be an Attacker that is meant to be played in the top lane, just like fellow Eeveelution, Sylveon.
Espeon was a character that was leaked some time ago. Other potentials were Glaceon, Delphox, and Buzzwoles, so those possibilities might look a little more likely now that Espeon is in the game.
As for how to get Espeon, that has been a hot button topic in recent days. It was initially rumored that Espeon would be the first Pokemon that could only be purchased with real money.
While it is true that the Unite license for Espeon can be purchased with Aeos gems (which cost actual money), trainers will also be able to earn a free Espeon Unite license. On May 16, the day Espeon is currently set to release, there will be a special event that will allow players to get a free Espeon.
Two of Espeon’s moves have been teased through Pokemon Unite’s Twitter page. The first of these, Psybeam, is a peculiar ray that splits off into smaller rays. Apparently, it will deal more damage based on the max HP of the first target it strikes.
Pokemon Espeon Moves
Calm Mind boosts Espeon’s Special Attack and Special Defense to high levels against the likes of Florges, Roserade, and Dragalge, allowing it to take special neutral hits more easily and hit a lot harder. Psychic is Espeon’s hardest-hitting STAB move, but Psyshock can be used to deal with the likes of Snorlax and other Pokemon with high Special Defense. Shadow Ball is the main coverage move on this set and allows Espeon to hit Bronzong, Metagross, and Cresselia super effectively. It also lets Espeon hit Steelix and Registeel neutrally.
Morning Sun allows Espeon to stay healthy and keep setting up against the likes of Bronzong and Registeel. Alternatively, Zap Cannon is an one-time nuke when paired with Electrium Z that allows Espeon to break through some of its checks, outright OHKOing most Mandibuzz variants after Stealth Rock. It also offers good neutral coverage despite its shaky accuracy of 50%, allowing Espeon to blow up Water-types like Milotic and Mega Blastoise, deal with Pursuit trappers such as Drapion, and hit Registeel harder than Shadow Ball.
Will Pokemon unite get new characters rather than Espeon?
Espeon was first introduced in Pokémon Gold and Silver, and it’s a Psychic Pokémon that’s the opposite of the other evolution introduced, the Dark-type Umbreon. Espeon is the fifth Psychic-type Pokémon to be added to Unite, but only the second Eeveelution behind the Fairy-type Sylveon. The latest addition puts the full roster at 35 characters, which you can see below.

is Espeon the best Eevee evolution in Pokémon Go?
If you have a high stat Eevee, you’ll want to make the most out of it and choose the best possible evolution available. This depends on your needs, of course – but it’s clear some are more useful than others.
Our picks for the best Eevee evolutions in Pokémon Go are Sylveon, Espeon, Umbreon and Glaceon.
Sylveon and Espeon are among the best of their respective types – Fairy and Psychic – and though they aren’t the most powerful (especially when considering Legendaries) Eevee has one advantage – being easy to find, meaning you’ll plenty of opportunities to catch and get Eevee Candy. In short, Sylveon and Espeon are superb budget Fairy and Psychic picks to help round off any line-up.
Though not the best of their types, if we’re thinking budget picks are what Eevee is good for, then Glaceon fits the bill, especially as there are few ice types available year round. Meanwhile, Umbreon is a useful Battle League choice at lower leagues such as Great League; its attacks will be super effective against both Ghost and Psychic-type Pokémon, and will really hold its own against fairy attacks, a Battle League staple.
Do Pokémon types matter in Pokémon UNITE? Although type strengths and weaknesses do not exist in Unite Battles, each Pokémon has its own unique stats and role—Attacker, Defender, Speedster, Supporter, or All-Rounder: Attacker: Have low Endurance but deal heavy ranged damage to opponents.
Dragonite debuted in Pokémon Unite on December 19, 2021 bringing its arsenal of Dragon-type abilities and pseudo-legendary stats.
This means that Squirtle and Wartortle will also join Pokemon Unite, as players have gone through the complete evolutionary lines of other starter Pokemon including Charizard, Greninja, and Cinderace.
However, when the game started on Nintendo Switch, Pikachu was not available yet for all players on day one. Luckily for trainers, Pikachu is now given for free as a reward, for Pokemon Unite reaching a pre-registration milestone. To get Pikachu, visit the event tabs to the Pre-registration Campaign Event.
