Pokémon Go is one of the most played games worldwide, with lots of trainers playing the game every day. Now, Pokémon Go users will be able to send Pokémon to Pokémon Home, the cloud-based service for Nintendo Switch and compatible mobile devices designed as a place where all Pokémon can gather.
What is the new update for Pokémon Home?
Pokémon Home has announced that a new update will be rolled out in the coming weeks that will include many new features. First up, it will become compatible with Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl, Sword, Shield, Let’s Go Pikachu!, Let’s Go Eevee!, and Pokémon GO.
Pokémon caught in other games loaded into Legends: Arceus will appear in Strange Balls and Pokémon from Legends: Arceus will all appear in regular Poke Balls. When you first link up with Legends: Arceus you will receive Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott with maximum effort. Linking with Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will give you Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup with Hidden Abilities.
Some obvious features are that moves that your Pokémon know that they cannot learn in other games will not transfer over with them, however they will resume knowing their original move set even if you change it up in a different game. Also keep in mind that special Pokémon that can only be caught once in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl can only be uploaded to Pokémon Home once per save data.
New stickers and achievements based on Legends: Arceus and Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will also be added. Lots of new stuff, but pretty exciting for everyone who has been waiting for these new compatibilities to be made.
What is Pokémon Home
Pokémon Home is an upgraded version of Pokémon Bank. It enables users to transfer and store their Pokémon from mainline and other entries of the series, which will be available to view on smartphones and Nintendo Switch.
Pokémon Home also allows users to expand their collection of Pokémon between games. Pokémon Home also allows users to trade Pokémon with other Home users. Players can choose to trade with nearby users or use the Global trading system to specifically send or receive Pokémon
Pokemon Home V2.0 Update Details for Legends Arceus & BDSP! Coming Soon!
Pokemon Home V2.0 Update will be happening soon (no official release date) and it will be compatible with Pokemon Legends Arceus & Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl!
Does Pokémon Home work with Arceus?
Pokémon Home will finally be compatible with Pokémon Legends: Arceus, as well as Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl. The Pokémon Company announced the long-awaited update via a news release on Thursday.
An exact release date for the update wasn’t listed alongside the new information — just that it will “soon arrive.” Polygon has reached out to The Pokémon Company for more information.
Pokémon players have been eagerly waiting for information on Pokémon Home; Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were released in November 2021, followed by Legends: Arceus in January 2022, but the cloud-based storage and trading system remained incompatible with all those games for some time.
“For example, you will be able to take a Pikachu that you caught in Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield into Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond, or Pokémon Shining Pearl,” The Pokémon Company wrote. “Please note that transferring Pokémon to a game they were not originally caught in may cause certain changes to known moves, level, and what type of Poké Ball they were caught in.”
That means that Pokémon moves could change when transferred into Home and then onto other games. The details here are vague, but Pokémon experts over at Serebii are quickly figuring out details from pre-release, Japanese versions of the app: Despite the moves not transferring, they’ll stay “connected” to to Pokémon, meaning that if they’re returned to the game they were caught in, they’ll retain original moves — regardless of whether they learned anything in their trip into another game, according to Serebii.
You’ll also notice that Pokémon transferred from Legends: Arceus will appear in new Poké Balls when transferred. Poké Balls as we know them today didn’t exist in that game, so anything transferred to or from Legends: Arceus will appear in a green Strange Ball.
Strange Balls in Pokémon Home Update
Since Pokémon Legends: Arceus takes place in the distant past of the world of Pokémon, Poké Balls from the other games do not yet exist. So, when Pokémon caught in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond, Pokémon Shining Pearl, Pokémon Sword, or Pokémon Shield are transferred to Pokémon Legends: Arceus, they will appear in Strange Balls. Likewise, when Pokémon caught in Pokémon Legends: Arceus are transferred to Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Pokémon Shining Pearl, they will also appear in Strange Balls. When transferred to Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield, however, they will appear in standard Poké Balls.
How will the Pokemon Home 2.0 update benefit players?
When the update finally arrives, players will be able to transfer all of their Pokemon across every modern Pokemon title, from Pokemon GO all the way to Pokemon Legends: Arceus. But, as nice as this update will be for hardcore players, what benefits does it offer casual players?
While most of the application’s features cater heavily to the hardcore playerbase, there are many other perks that make this app worth the investment for all players. Past Pokemon entries force the player to delete all of their Pokemon to start a new game. However, players can now transfer them to Home before doing so.
This can help players quickly regain their progress on the Pokedex of their desired game. This can be a big deal for a lot of players, as every modern Pokemon game rewards the player for having filled Pokedex entries on every Pokemon. This reward grants players an increased chance of finding wild Shiny Pokemon.
Mass releasing and trading is another great feature provided by Pokemon Home. As players continue their playthrough, they may amass a collection of Pokemon that they might just have sitting around and taking up space. Whether it be from catching Pokemon for Pokedex entries or breeding, space can be taken up rather quickly. These Pokemon can be transferred to the application in mass.
Pokémon Home will finally be compatible with Pokémon Legends: Arceus, as well as Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl. The Pokémon Company announced the long-awaited update via a news release on Thursday.
The Pokémon will remain in Pokémon HOME for a certain period of time. You will not be able to view or withdraw any Pokémon that are not in your Basic Box. You can check which Pokémon will be available in your Basic Box if your plan changes to the Basic Plan.
Arceus (Japanese: アルセウス Arceus) is a Normal-type Mythical Pokémon introduced in Generation IV. While it is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon, Arceus will change type when it is holding a Plate or type-specific Z-Crystal.
Nintendo announced that sometime in March 2023, the Nintendo 3DS eShop will be shut down alongside the Wii U storefront. This means when it closes, Pokemon Bank will no longer be available to download.
