Super Mario Bros Review: How to Play Super Mario? Who is Mario in the game?

Super Mario Bros – Full Game Walkthrough

Super Mario Bros is a platform game developed and published by Nintendo. The successor to the 1983 arcade game Mario Bros. and the first in the Super Mario world, it was released in 1985 for the Famicom in Japan. Following a limited US release for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), it was ported to international arcades for the Nintendo Vs. System in early 1986. The NES version received a wide release in North America that year and in PAL regions in 1987.

How to Play Super Mario Bros

  • Learn the controls in the new Super Mario Bros. On the original NES game, and in most remakes, the controls are A or B (A on NES) to jump, X or Y (B on NES) to run or shoot a fireball, the direction pad to move, holding X or Y (B on NES) whilst moving to dash, Start (+) to pause, and Select (-) to switch between Mario and Luigi in the title screen.
  • Jump on enemies. Often, this is the only way to defeat them. Koopas (the turtle-like creatures) and Buzzy Beetles will turn into a shell when jumped on. Hitting the shell will send it gliding. You will get extra points if it hits other enemies.
  • Get a running start when making a jump. Sometimes, it is impossible to jump onto something without getting a fast start on your jump. Before jumping, run up to the object with B or Y on the Direction Pad.
  • Hit blocks. The levels in Super Mario world have loads of blocks. Some blocks have question marks, which either have a coin, a red mushroom, a green 1UP mushroom, or a fire flower. A red mushroom makes you grow into Super Mario, and a fire flower lets you shoot fireballs at enemies, Coins are worth 200 points, and collecting 100 will give you a free 1UP, as will a green mushroom.
  • Look for shortcuts. To enter a pipe that leads to the underground, or underwater levels, is to simply press down on the Direction Pad while on top of a pipe. Going underground will often yield several coins and a shortcut.
  • Run whenever possible. Unless absolutely necessary, never stop running. Remember, you have a time limit to finish the level, and the faster you get through the better your score will be.

Who is Mario in Super Mario Bros

Mario is a kind-hearted and brave hero, with a love of pasta and pizza. People know Mario has a great, happy, personality since he has a high pitched, funny voice. Since Mario’s Game Gallery, Charles Martinet has been his voice actor.

He usually says: “Okey dokey!”, “Woohoo!”, “Let’s a-go!”, “It’s-a me! Mario!”, “‘ere we go”, “Mama mia!” and more, though in sports games, he says things relevant to the sport, in Mario Golf he says “Fore!” for example. Mario hardly ever speaks properly in any games, leaving the talking to other characters. Mario bros wii does speak normally in the DiC animated cartoons and the anime series.

Mario is a plumber (he was a carpenter). He only acts like a plumber in the games, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and the original Mario Bros., but pipes are always one way to get around. Mario was seen plumbing during the animated series. He know a lot about tools and fixing pipes in the movie. In the first Donkey Kong games when Mario was called Jumpman, he was a carpenter.

In the Dr. Mario games first seen in 1990, Mario is a doctor. In 2001, Mario appeared in Dr. Mario 64, an updated version of the original puzzle game. Dr. Mario appeared as an secret character in the Nintendo GameCube game Super Smash Bros. Melee, and in another newer version, Dr. Mario Virus Buster, for WiiWare. In the Game Boy game Mario’s Picross, Mario is an archaeologist.

Mario usually saves Princess Peach (AKA Princess Toadstool), Princess Daisy and Pauline. And he usually has to defeat villains, like Bowser(AKA King Koopa in Japan) Most characters in the games know who he is because he acts like a hero, as shown in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, where they are called “superstars”, or celebrities.

Gameplay of Super Mario Bros

In this game you are playing the role of the Mario. You are going through the Mushroom Kingdom, surviving the forces of the antagonist Bowser, and saving Princess Toadstool. Mario should reach the flag pole at the end of each level to win the game.

There is a lot of coins scattered around for Mario to collect and special bricks marked with a question mark, which may reveal more coins or a special item when Mario hits them. Other bricks may also contain some coins or rare items so if you have enough time, try to hit them as well. If Mario Mario eats a Super Mushroom Super Mushroom, he becomes a Super Mario — he grows to double his size and gains the ability to break bricks above him. If he gets hit in this mode he will turn back to regular Mario instead of dying. If Mario eats a Fire Flower Fire Flower, he becomes a Fire Mario FireMario — in this form, Mario gains the ability to throw bouncing fireballs from his hands. If Mario touches a bouncing Super Star (a rare power-up), he turns into Star Mario. In this form Mario is invulnerable to nearly everything and he can kill enemies with a simple touch. This is a temporary form so use your newly obtained powers quickly!

When playing, the player is assuming the role of Mario and has to go through the Mushroom Kingdom. The player has to survive the evil forces of the game’s villain, Bowser, and rescue Princess Toadstool. To win the game, Mario has to reach the flag pole at the end of each level.

There are coins scattered throughout the game which need to be collected. There are also special bricks with question marks that reveal more coins and other special items once hit. It’s a must to hit other bricks if there’s enough time as they might contain rare items or coins.

Eating a mushroom transforms regular Marion into Super Mario, which means he grows double in size and gets the ability to break bricks above him. Careful though as when he gets hit in this mode, he reverts to his original self, but he won’t die.

How to complete Super Mario Bros in under 10 minutes

It is possible to beat the game in very little time. Official records have been held at 5 minutes. In order to achieve this phenomenal time, you must run as quickly as you can at all times, and avoid anything that might slow you down, such as collecting power-ups or dropping down pipes (unless those pipes lead to quicker times).

World 1-1 – Run from the start of the stage, and take the fourth green pipe from the start, and run quickly through the coin room, and complete the stage.

World 1-2 – At the final part of the level with the orange platforms moving up and down, anticipate their presence and jump to the first set of platforms that are droping, to the top of the blue platform in the middle, to the next set of platforms that are rising, and make it to the top of the screen in one fluid motion.

World 4-1 – Beat as normal in Super Mario Bros. To save time, it is possible to jump over the piranha plants. Your jumps have to be timed perfectly though otherwise Mario will be killed by the plants.

World 4-2 – Towards the beginning of the level, there are a number of “?” blocks with an orange platform to the right of them. Go over this platform and you’ll see three brick blocks above you. The left-most block has a beanstalk which will take you to the warp zone for world 8-1. Stand directly underneath the right-most block and jump. An invisible coin block will appear. Go underneath the middle block and a higher up coin block will appear.

World 8-1 to 8-4 – beat as normal. You will complete Super Mario Bros using only a quarter of the levels and in only a fraction of the time.

Can I play Mario on Google?

When you load up Google Maps and enter a destination, instead of pressing start press the yellow “?” icon. This summons Mario. If you are really bored, press the yellow “?” 100 times to hear it make the 1-up sound from the Super Mario Bros games.

What is Mario’s full name?

Two months after Iwata’s death in July 2015, Miyamoto changed his stance, asserting at the Super Mario Bros. 30th Anniversary festival that Mario’s full name was indeed “Mario Mario”.

What is with Mario dying?

No, Mario is not dying. But fans are (jokingly) lamenting the loss of the plumber-turned-adventurer because of a series of strange decisions by Nintendo. The company is ending sales of Super Mario 3D All-Stars for Switch and the Super Mario Bros. -themed Game & Watch handheld that was just released in November.

Is Mario’s dad?

Papa Mario first appeared in the short anime video Super Mario Issun-bōshi, a retelling of the Japanese fairy tale Issun-bōshi with Super Mario characters. Though he is not given a name, Mario refers to his father as “Papa”.
