Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction (originally known as Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Quarantine) is an online multiplayer tactical shooter video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. A spin-off of Rainbow Six Siege (2015), Extraction is a cooperative multiplayer game in which players must work together to combat and defeat a type of parasite-like aliens called the Archæans. The game was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Amazon Luna, Google Stadia, Xbox One and Xbox Series X and Series S on January 20, 2022. It received mixed reviews from critics.
Does Rainbow Six Extraction have crossplay?
New year, new video game. Rainbow Six Extraction launched on Jan. 20 and will include 18 different operators from Rainbow Six Siege. This time, however, players partner to eliminate monsters instead of terrorists.
The answer is yes, Rainbow Six Extraction includes not only crossplay but also cross-progress and cross-save.
Back in July 2021, the official Ubisoft North America YouTube channel announced these features, where they stated: “From day one, Rainbow Six Extraction is unified across all platforms.”
They added that players will be able to “save (their) progress anytime between current and next-generation consoles, Ubisoft Connect, PC, and Cloud streaming platforms.” This means that players from any platform can partner to defeat the enemies in the game.
How many players can partner up in Rainbow Six Extraction?
Rainbow Six Extraction allows players to partner up in teams of three to complete the game’s missions, although players are also able to play solo or with just another teammate. With that being said, forget about playing with your usual Siege five-stack.
This has originated some complaints from the Siege community, as players are used to playing in teams of five — and they obviously don’t want to leave two of their usual stack members behind. However, in order to explore this new R6 world, you will have to pick your best two partners and jump to the unknown.
How do you play Rainbow Six Extraction on Game Pass?
Rainbow Six Extraction blurs the line between tactical shooters and survival horror since players must use their weapons and abilities to escape incursions. The gameplay will feel familiar to Rainbow Six Siege veterans, although the new enemies will still send a shiver up your spine.
Extraction is available on almost every major platform, giving players several ways to enjoy the game. The game is also available on the Xbox Game Pass, meaning players with a subscription can enjoy the title without paying the full cost upfront. Playing Extraction through Game Pass can be tricky depending on the platform, but the steps are easy once you know what you’re doing.
Downloading Extraction on Game Pass on an Xbox console is straightforward. Open the Game Pass and find the game, then hit install. You can also use the Cloud Gaming beta to play Extraction without installing it to your system, but it’s recommended to install if possible. Once the game is downloaded, you can load it up and enjoy.
You can also download Extraction from the PC Game Pass, which has a few more steps. After selecting Extraction in the Game Pass, you’ll be taken to a web page requiring you to sign in to your Ubisoft account. If you don’t have an account, you can create it there.
After creating or connecting your account, you need to download the Ubisoft Connect app on your computer. Players are unable to download Extraction through the PC Game Pass app at the moment, although this might change. For now, download Ubisoft Connect, find Rainbow Six Extraction in the My Games section, and install it.
Who are the operators in Rainbow Six Extraction?
Similar to Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, the game features a character-based system for players to select from when entering an Active Containment Zone. The game currently features eighteen playable Operators with more set to be added after launch. Operators must first be unlocked and can be upgraded to improve their effectiveness in missions. Each Operator has a unique skill and are specialized for a respective role.
All Operators feature three different statuses: Operational, Inactive, and MIA. All Operators start with Operational status and can be deployed on any Incursion. If an Operator in Rainbow Six Extraction returns from an Incursion below a certain amount of health, they will receive the Inactive status and cannot be chosen from until their health returns to Operational status. If an Operator receives critical damage or is unable to extract from an Incursion, they will be covered in REACT Foam to prevent infection will be given the MIA status. They must then be rescued from the in the Active Containment Zone where they fell and can not be chosen from until this is accomplished. Should all Operators be MIA, players will still have at least three Operators at their disposal to rescue MIA Operators.
