What is “Let Me Solo Her” in Elden Ring? Is the play just another Dark Souls?

Elden Ring’s fame on social media has been one of the reasons why it has gained so much popularity, even among players who aren’t fans of the genre. Every week, there’s a new milestone achieved by a player – be it a speedrun in under 8 minutes or a no hit run. Now, something called “Let me solo her” is trending among Elden Ring fans and if you’re not sure what it is and what it means, keep reading.

What is Let Me Solo Her in Elden Ring?

Malenia, Blade of Miquella is among the toughest bosses you will face in Elden Ring and she wields a Katana that can deal heavy damage with every swing. But if you need some help, there’s someone who can be of great assistance. It’s a legendary player who tells you, “Let me solo her” and they do just what they promise, despite being dressed in the bare minimum outfit, a jar as a helmet, and two Katanas. And as FromSoftware fans know, this is a sign of an absolute mad lad. The confidence is unparalleled and they come with a purpose – to flex their skills and also, to help out, you know?

Once this player appears in your world, you will see how Malenia is beaten with ease. Dodging attacks and landing a strike at the right moment does the trick but it surely isn’t as easy as it looks – here it is in action and here’s the Reddit post by the player.

The reason why this became viral in the community is that this player was constantly helping others, being summoned to help them take down this indomitable foe. What would take anything around 20 to 30 attempts, Let Me Solo Her does it in one go, all alone.

There are a few Reddit threads posted that confirm that this player is doing some flawless work. And some have even created Fan Art for this player.

So, if you (like me) are okay with being carried through fights or even watching from the sidelines while someone battles enemies for you, go ahead and check for the signs after using the Furlcalling Finger Remedy. If you see something called Let Me Solo Her, that’s the stranger doing god’s work in Elden Ring.

The Rise of “Let Me Solo Her”

Early on, gamers had no idea to know if “Let Me Solo Her” was real or a community joke like Elden Ring’s dog meme. However, as time went on, it became clear that this phenomenon was not a myth. Numerous posts were shared that had the same exact details, with fans reporting a summon sign reading “Let Me Solo Her” and a very distinct outfit. Specifically, the summoned player wore no clothing at all apart from a jar atop their head. They also wielded two katanas, giving them an instantly recognizable appearance.

As more and more players reported appearances of “Let Me Solo Her,” the actual player confirmed their existence. They shared a video of themselves soloing the boss alongside an image of their character and an explanation of their actions.

Gamers have made “Let Me Solo Her” drawings and fully painted models, taking their appreciation of this player to a whole new level. In a matter of days, “Let Me Solo Her” has gone from mere whispers on the internet to common knowledge, inspiring dozens of appreciation posts from those that encountered them and those that have only just heard the stories.

The popularity of “Let Me Solo Her” is comparable to that of Dark Souls’ Giant Dad, only with some opposite motivations. Giant Dad saw the most skilled Dark Souls players dominating everyone they came across in PvP, while “Let Me Solo Her” only seeks to help their fellow Tarnished defeat Elden Ring’s hardest boss. Both have become iconic within the games’ respective communities, with Giant Dad being a meme and “Let Me Solo Her” portrayed as a hero. Further, like Giant Dad, there will surely be several copycats.

With many players likely dressing up as “Let Me Solo Her” and leaving this message behind, it will be difficult to tell if Elden Ring players are summoning the real version or a pretender. For those that manage to call upon the real one, though, they will likely be carried through a battle that they have spent hours struggling with. As time goes on, fans will likely continue to spread the word about what KleinTsuboiOW is doing, placing them on a pedestal and further honoring the legend.

Elden Ring: Is it just another Dark Souls?

The Dark Souls series made FromSoftware a legitimate contender with 27 million unit sales across three games as of 2020. Elden Ring, on the other hand, removes any doubt of the company’s place among the pantheon of developers, making it a bona fide AAA outfit.

After all, this wasn’t the same case as Demon’s Souls where a name change was needed with the switch from previous partner Sony to Bandai Namco. The latter continues to be FromSoftware’s partner for Elden Ring, causing some to think it had to be a significantly different IP or they would have just used the Dark Souls moniker.

The involvement of George RR Martin of Game of Thrones fame also fueled speculation that Elden Ring might be more story-driven compared to Souls games, which deeply buried their stories’ lore within the game’s dialogue and item descriptions instead of using the more narrative-heavy takes used by Final Fantasy or Sony Interactive Entertainment’s high-profile titles such as God of War or the Horizon series.

It doesn’t take long, however, to realize the strong similarities between Elden Ring and the Souls series. The paint and chassis might look different. But the engine that powers it is unmistakably the same albeit with some tweaks. Then again, some of those changes, while seemingly minor, lead to some fundamental differences from the Souls experience.

While Dark Souls feels more linear and compartmentalized, Elden Ring lets you go anywhere you want anytime across its sprawling landscapes. Just turn your camera in a direction and you’re free to head off like Francisco Pizarro to unexplored locales. And just like Pizarro, your exploits can also get you killed. Just because you can go somewhere doesn’t mean you should as it becomes obvious pretty quickly when you’re underleveled and undergeared for an area. So in a sense, the game puts invisible gates to your progression.

That being said, the freedom to explore is one of the neat aspects of “Let Me Solo Her” in Elden Ring, especially given how much more diverse and alive its world feels compared to Dark Souls. This is true both from a world design aspect as well as a technical aspect as the game looks quite beautiful. As stressful as the game can get sometimes, there’s just something oddly calming about traversing through Elden Ring’s world and stumbling upon all sorts of unexpected surprises.

Will Elden Ring have single player?

The game ranks in the top five most-played games on Steam by concurrent players, and it’s the only single-player game among the group. (Elden Ring has multiplayer, but only in short, opt-in bursts.) It also ranks as the 31st best-reviewed game in the history of Metacritic.

What is Let me solo her?

Before I reached Malenia, a notoriously tough boss in Elden Ring, I had already heard a bit about the player named “Let me solo her,” who — as their name implies — is fully capable of taking on the two-phased foe by themselves.

Is Elden Ring 3rd person?

Elden Ring is an action role-playing game played in a third-person perspective with gameplay focusing on combat and exploration; it features elements similar to those found in other games developed by FromSoftware, such as the Souls series, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Is Elden Ring basically Dark Souls?

Like Dark Souls, Elden Ring also uses a class system, which serves as the foundation for your character builds. You can pick from 10 classes, many of which share similarities with Dark Souls classes despite having different names.
