‘Elden Ring’: How To Get Warrior Jar’s Shard And Shard Of Alexander
The talismans boost all weapon skill damage by a small amount
The Warrior Jar’s Shard in “Elden Ring” is a talisman that increases the damage dealt by weapon skills, otherwise known as Ashes of War. This item can be acquired very early into the game unless players want to get its upgraded version.
To get this talisman, players must find and kill Iron Fist Alexander, the friendly warrior jar found in Limgrave. He can be found stuck in the ground by an overlook leading to east Limgrave, near the Agheel Lake North Site of Grace in Northern Stormhill.
There’s nothing complicated to do here. Hit Alexander in the back until he pops out of the ground, then continue hitting him until he becomes hostile. Then, fight him until he shatters. He mostly fights like a normal giant warrior jar, so he shouldn’t be too hard to beat.
Killing Alexander early rewards players with the Warrior Jar’s Shard. However, continuing his storyline until one of the final areas of the game will instead give the Shard of Alexander, which is slightly stronger.
Normally, players will have to meet up with Alexander in all of his possible spawn locations. However, it seems like players will only need to talk to Alexander after the Radahn boss fight in Caelid for this story to make progress.
Alexander’s final spawn location is at Crumbling Farum Azula, past a Stonesword Imp Gate near the Dragon Temple Altar Site of Grace. Open the gate and take the lift up to the Dragon Temple Lift grace; Alexander can be found standing on a floating platform.
Speak to Alexander one final time, and he will shatter, rewarding players with Alexander’s Innards and the Shard of Alexander.

Once crafted, players should throw one at warrior jar shard in Elden ring and then proceed to hit him. After he’s freed, he’ll tell the player that he’s heading somewhere (Magma Lake) to harden his vessel.
But this time, players will not be able to help by hitting him, as Iron Fist Alexander cracked his body during the Starscourge Radahn boss fight. Instead, players will need to coat Iron Fist Alexander with Oil Pots since hitting him will cause his body to break, thus killing him.
How to complete Alexander’s questline in Elden Ring
Alexander’s quest is refreshingly easy to follow for the majority of its path, as he will take a similar journey through the game as you do, though there are plenty of encounters that you can easily miss, especially since this rotund warrior is quite the traveler. He’s also quite prone to finding himself stuck in certain situations — sometimes literally — and requires your help to move forward.
The first step in aiding your friendly jar friend is finding him. He’s one of the very missable NPCs in Elden Ring, left out in the open world for you to find or pass by without ever knowing. You can first find him in Limgrave in the northern Stormhill area, to the west of the river and north from the Agheel Lake North Site of Grace. When riding through this area, keep your ears open for his cries for help. Track him down, find him stuck in a large hole in the ground, and speak to him. He’ll ask you to knock him loose with a strong hit, assuring you he’ll be fine. Grant his request and give him your best swing from behind to smack him loose from the earth.
Your next chance to find warrior jar shard in Elden Ring is inside the Gael Tunnel, another completely optional location you can visit. This area is right on the border between Caelid and Limgrave, and can be entered from either zone. He’s near the end of the tunnel, hanging out in a safe area and is basically impossible to miss so long as you complete the area. Talk to him here, learning about his detour, and that he’s ready to finally move on to Redmane Castle.
Craft yourself an oil pot and head back to Alexander to get him unstuck in Elden Ring. Once back at Alexander’s location, you need to throw the pot at Alexander. Next, use a large weapon and charge up its attack. After doing so, use the weapon to strike Alexander and set him free.
If you kill Alexander, he’ll drop 1,500 Runes and the Warrior Pot Shard which is a talisman that boosts your skill damage. At the same time, his questline will become unavailable and you won’t be able to summon him for the boss fight at the Radahn Festival.
After speaking to the Great-Jar, who only says “…”, three red duelist Summon Signs will appear on the path leading to the gigantic NPC. To get the Great-Jar’s Arsenal Talisman, and earn the Great-Jar’s favor, you need to defeat all three of these duelists.
Talk to Alexander for the final time, and he will invite you to a fight. After defeating him, you will get the Shard of Alexander Talisman.
