As you know, Wordle chooses a target word every day. Although there are 12972 5-letter words in the Wordle dictionary, one of the key ingredients of the game is that the target word is not chosen randomly from that dictionary.
Who chooses Wordle word?
Each daily game uses a word from a randomly ordered list of 2,315 words (out of the approximate 12,000 five-letter words in the English language). The smaller word list was chosen by Wardle’s wife, who categorized the five-letter words into those she knew, those she did not know, and those she might have known.
