Bayern Munich first pre-season friendly resulted in a one-sided 27-0 victory against Rottach-Egern, raising questions about how much the Bundesliga champions truly learned from the match. Thomas Tuchel’s side, based at the scenic Tegernsee camp, saw Jamal Musiala score the opening goal after three minutes, followed by Serge Gnabry doubling the lead just a minute later.
The score for the Bayern Munich friendly quickly escalated to 5-0 by the 13th minute, with Musiala and Gnabry both scoring twice and Alphonso Davies, the Canadian international, adding the third goal in the eighth minute.
At half-time, the score was 18-0, with Mathys Tel and Musiala scoring five goals and Gnabry securing a hat-trick. Laimer, Mazraoui, Upamecano, and Sané also contributed to the scoresheet.
Bayern’s lineup had changed in the second half, but their dominance over their non-league opponents continued. Marcel Sabitzer scored five goals between the 50th and 73rd minutes, while Guerreiro, Gravenberch, Coman, and, finally, Mané completed the rout.
The final scoreline of 27-0 surpasses previous results against the same opponents: 20-2 in 2018 and 23-0 in 2019.
Bayern will face a more formidable challenge in their upcoming match against treble-winning Manchester City in Japan on July 26, with additional pre-season fixtures scheduled against Liverpool in Singapore and Monaco.
Kim Min-jae joins Bayern Munich on their historic friendly match
Kim Min-jae, the South Korean defender, observed his new teammates in action after completing his transfer from the Italian champions Napoli. He signed a five-year contract with Bayern. Bayern did not disclose the transfer fee, but German and Italian media reported that the club paid the player a release clause of €50 million (£43 million).
“FC Bayern is a dream for every footballer,” Kim said. “I’m really looking forward to what’s to come in Munich. It’s a new beginning for me. I’ll continue to develop here.
“In discussions with the club, it was made clear to me from the start how interested they are in me. My first goal is to play a lot of games. In addition, I want to win as many trophies as possible.”
