In 2021, De La Cruz showcased his skills in the Arizona Complex League Reds and Single-A Daytona Tortugas. Across 61 games, he compiled an impressive batting line of .296/.336/.539, hitting eight home runs, driving in 42 runs (RBIs), and stealing 10 bases. Moving on to the 2022 season, he played for the High-A Dayton Dragons and Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts, appearing in 121 games. During this season, he achieved career-highs with a batting average of .304, an on-base percentage of .359, and a slugging percentage of .586. He also recorded 28 home runs, 86 RBIs, and 47 stolen bases. De La Cruz’s outstanding performance earned him a spot in the All-Star Futures Game, representing the Reds. At the start of the 2023 season, De La Cruz was optioned to the Triple-A Louisville Bats. In 38 games with Louisville, he continued to excel with a batting average of .298, an on-base percentage of .398, and a slugging percentage of .633. He launched 12 home runs, drove in 36 RBIs, and stole 11 bases. On June 6, 2023, De La Cruz received his first promotion to the major leagues following an injury to Nick Senzel.
