The University of Tennessee’s football program, commonly known as the Tennessee Volunteers or Vols, has a rich history spanning 130 seasons since its inception in 1891. The Vols have achieved considerable success, boasting a combined record of 867-410-53, placing them eleventh in all-time win-loss percentage and second among SEC programs with a record of 405-273-33. They have made their mark in postseason play, ranking fifth in bowl appearances with 54 and eighth in bowl victories with 29, including notable wins in prestigious bowls such as the Sugar Bowl, Cotton Bowl, Orange Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, and Peach Bowl. The Vols have secured 16 conference championships and claim six national titles, two of which were recognized by major wire services.
The team proudly calls Neyland Stadium, located on the university’s Knoxville campus, their home. With 485 victories at Neyland Stadium, it holds the record for the most home-field wins in college football history.
