Max Emilian Verstappen, a Dutch-Belgian racing driver, has established himself as a prominent figure in Formula One, winning the World Championship titles in 2021 and 2022. He competes for Red Bull Racing under the Dutch flag.
Verstappen comes from a racing background, with his father, Jos Verstappen, having also competed in Formula One, and his mother, Sophie Kumpen, being a racing driver as well. He demonstrated remarkable talent in junior karting and single-seater categories, setting numerous records in disciplines such as KF3, WSK World Series, KZ2, and European Formula 3. At the age of 17 years and 166 days, Verstappen became the youngest Formula One driver to participate in a race, achieving this milestone at the 2015 Australian Grand Prix. Following a season with Scuderia Toro Rosso in 2015, he made his debut for Red Bull Racing in 2016, winning the Spanish Grand Prix and becoming the youngest-ever Formula One race winner and the first Dutch driver to achieve this feat.
In 2021, Verstappen made history by becoming the first Dutch driver to win the Formula One World Championship, securing the title after triumphing at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. He then went on to win his second consecutive championship in the following season. As of the 2023 British Grand Prix, Verstappen has accumulated 43 victories and 27 pole positions. Notably, he achieved his first career hat-trick at the 2021 French Grand Prix and his first grand slam at the 2021 Austrian Grand Prix. He added to his grand slam tally with victories at the 2022 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and the 2023 Spanish Grand Prix. Verstappen has committed his future to Red Bull Racing by signing a contract extension that will keep him with the team until at least the end of the 2028 season.
