Daniel Weinman
Daniel Weinman is an American professional poker player who was born on February 3, 1988, in Atlanta, Georgia. He is best known for winning the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event in 2023.
Weinman graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2009 with a degree in mechanical engineering. After working as an engineer for a while, he decided to pursue a career in professional poker. His first WSOP final table appearance came in 2012, and in 2015, he won a WSOP Circuit event in Cherokee, North Carolina, for $280,000.
In 2017, Weinman had a breakout year, winning two World Poker Tour (WPT) events. He first won the Borgata Winter Poker Open, beating out a field of 1,312 players and earning $892,000. He then went on to win the season-ending WPT Tournament of Champions in April, taking home a prize of $381,500.
At the 2022 WSOP, Weinman had 19 cashes and made three final tables. He won his first WSOP bracelet in the $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event, earning $255,000, and finished second to Daniel Zack for WSOP Player of the Year.
Weinman’s biggest win came in 2023 when he won the WSOP Main Event, beating out a record-breaking field of players and taking home a prize of $12,100,000. He entered the final table in third chip position with 81,700,000 and beat Steven Jones on the 164th hand of the final table and the 24th of heads-up with K♣ J♦ when both players hit a pair of jacks on the flop to win the bracelet.
Aside from poker, Weinman is also an avid golfer and plays to a scratch handicap. He even played in a qualifier for the U.S. Mid-Amateur Golf Championship in 2023.
Weinman’s impressive poker career has earned him two WSOP bracelets, two WPT titles, and a total of 70 money finishes as of July 2023. He has also made nine WSOP final tables and four European Poker Tour money finishes.
