In June 2023, Niantic launched a new Timed Research event in Pokemon Go called “Dark Flames.” This research event focuses on Dark-type and Fire-type Pokemon.
The central feature of this event is the new “Dark Fire Collection Challenge.” Players need to catch certain Dark-type and Fire-type Pokemon to complete this research. Completing it rewards players with an encounter with Turtonator, a Fire/Dragon-type Pokemon originally discovered in the Pokemon Sun and Moon games.
There are two research paths in the Dark Flames event:
-Dark Flames I: Focuses on Dark-type Pokemon like Houndour, Carvanha, Poochyena, and more. Rewards include Turtwig encounters.
-Dark Flames II: Focuses on Fire-type Pokemon like Litwick, Ponyta, Lavitar, and others. Rewards include Chimchar encounters.
Players will need to catch a mixture of Dark-type and Fire-type Pokemon to finish the “Dark Fire Collection Challenge” and unlock the encounter with Turtonator. Niantic is also featuring an increased chance to encounter Litwick and Houndour during this event.
In summary, the “dark flames pokemon go” event focuses on Dark and Fire type Pokemon with Turtonator as the highlight reward. The two timed research paths give players a chance to catch the necessary Pokemon to complete the Dark Fire Collection Challenge.
