Pokemon Go current Raid bosses: Mega Raids, Ex Raids, Remote Raids, Raid Battles

Raids are an essential part of the Pokemon Go experience, and each month there’s a new set of Pokemon ranging from common 1-Stars to rare 5-Star Legendaries to battle and potentially catch. Here’s the current line-up of Raid bosses for March 2022.

March is shaping up to be an exciting month for Pokemon Go players. There’s a Community Day starring Sandshrew, loads of new Alola region Pokemon debuting, and of course, a new set of Spotlight Hour stars to look forward to.

As for Raids, Trainers will be able to encounter a brand new Legendary, the Alola region’s Tapu Koko, in 5-Star Raid Battles! Then, later in March, they’ll once again get the chance to add Therian Forme Tornadus to their collection.

It also appears that there will only be one Mega-evolved Pokemon appearing in Mega Raids at a time from now on, so it may have just become more difficult to get the Mega Energy you need.

All Pokemon Go Raid Guides March 2022

If you’re new to Raids or just need a bit of a helping hand, then look no further! We’ll be compiling guides on how best to get the Mega and 5-Star Raid Pokemon below:

When do Raid Hours take place?

Each week, Niantic hosts a special Raid Hour takes place to allow players a better chance at catching the current 5-Star Raid Pokemon. All of the gyms that have Raids in them will be 5-Star, so that’s Tapu Koko right now.

Raid Hours take place every Wednesday from 6PM to 7PM, and you won’t have to worry about time zones as it will always be your local time. This is the perfect chance to get out there and catch yourself a Legendary.

What are Raid Battles in Pokemon Go?

Raid Battles occur when a Boss Pokemon takes over a Gym. You can find them by walking around local Gyms and keeping an eye out for eggs that are about to hatch, or Boss Pokemon that are part of a currently ongoing Raid.

These Pokemon are very powerful, so it’s recommended that you team up with a few other trainers in order to secure a victory. There are four tiers: 1-Star, 3-Star, 5-Star, and Mega Raids. The higher the tier, the harder the battle.

Raid Battles are worth the time and effort to complete, though. As well as earning special items, you’ll also get a chance to catch the Pokemon you beat. In the case of 5-Star Raids, these will be Legendaries you can’t get anywhere else.

How to get Raid Passes in Pokemon Go

In order to take part in a Raid Battle, you’ll need a Raid Pass. You can earn one Raid Pass each day by spinning the Photo Disc at any Gym. If you run out, you can purchase a Premium Raid Pass from the Shop.

There are now also Remote Raid Passes available in Go. These are ideal for trainers who can’t leave the house, as they let you join any Raid Battle that’s on the Nearby screen or tappable from the Map View.

Remote Raid Passes can be bought from the Shop, or received as free gifts every now and then.

How to catch Pokemon in Raid Battles

When you successfully defeat a Raid Boss, you’ll get the chance to catch it. You’ll be given a set number of Premier Balls to use, but it’s not guaranteed that you’ll be able to catch it, especially if it’s a Legendary.

Here are some ways to increase the number of Premier Balls you’ll get:

Deal a high amount of damage to the Raid boss.
Your team deals a high amount of damage to the Raid boss.
Controlling the gym that the Raid takes place in.
Participating in Raids with friends.
Remember, you can also use Razz Berries, or even better Golden Razz Berries, to help catch Raid bosses. Getting excellent throws or spinning curveballs will increase your chances, too.

Raid Invitations and Remote Raids in Pokémon Go

As the global pandemic slowed Pokémon Go play and raids in particular during the early part of 2020, Niantic began to implement new features to make raids more accessible. Now Trainers can purchase Remote Raid Passes, which allow them to take part in raids that aren’t within range for a normal Raid Pass. These Remote Raid Passes will let you join in any raid you can see on the screen. Additionally, Remote Raid Passes allow you to join into any raid a friend invites you to. Raid Invitations were added shortly after Remote Raid Passes, allowing Trainers to invite up to five of their friends to join in a raid from anywhere in the world.

EX Raids in Pokémon Go

An Exclusive or EX Raid is a special sort of raid you can only participate in by invitation. Invitations are given to players who battle at EX eligible Gyms during a time of high traffic with some small bit of luck on top. Otherwise, invitations can be shared between Ultra and Best Friends. If you have a high-level friend who gets one, they can invite you to the EX Raid as well. The last EX Raid Boss was Regigigas, the leader of the Regi Titans Trio; however, Niantic has currently suspended EX Raids in the interests of public health concerns.

No more Four and Two Star Raids in Pokémon Go

Prior to Mega Raids being released, Pokémon Go had two other raid types: Four Star Raids and Two Star Raids. Four Star Raids were combined with Three Star Raids, while Two Star Raids were combined with One Star Raids. The difficulty remained at Three and One Star levels, while increasing the rewards, making all of these battles more accessible.

Now you’re all clued up on Raids and the creatures you can battle at Gyms this month, it’s time to get out there and catch yourself some Pokemon – and maybe even a Legendary. Good luck, trainers!

How do raids work Pokemon Go?

Raid Battles occur when a Boss Pokémon takes over a Gym. Your goal is to defeat this powerful Pokémon. If you and your fellow Trainers are successful, you’ll be rewarded with special items and a chance at catching that Pokémon.

Can you solo a 3 star raid?

You can’t do it alone; you’ll need help from fellow Trainers to raid the Gym and (hopefully) prevail. Raid Battles aren’t your typical Gym Battle; your opponent is more difficult to defeat than most other Pokémon.

Is tapu Koko good in Pokemon Go?

Boasting a reasonably high max CP and a lengthy list of Pokémon that are vulnerable to its attacks, Tapu Koko could be very useful in Raid Battles, though its lack of a Fairy-type Fast Attack should be considered when challenging Dragon-type Pokémon.

What time are Pokemon Go raids?

While Raid Hour events are usually held every Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. your local time, Niantic has held additional Raid Hours due to special events. Generally, Raid Hour will feature at least one Legendary or Mythic Pokémon (what is currently active in-game) or more.
