PILOTING TIPS IN BATTLEFIELD™ 2042
Before you take to the not so friendly skies in the world of 2042, we’d like to give you a few tips to make the most of your time in the air.
Whether you’re piloting a helicopter or jet, your head’s up display (or HUD) is your best friend. Not only will it give you a readout on your current altitude, orientation, and speed, but it’ll also tell you the “health” of your vehicle (including any damage and where it’s located), a mini-map giving you an overall view of enemies as well as your location, plus weapons and remaining ammunition.
The controls you’ll need to know are:
On PC – W/A/S/D keys
On console – left stick
Using “W” or left stick up allows you to accelerate, conversely the “S” key or down on the stick will decelerate, though often you won’t need to do more than stop accelerating to control your speed. The “A” and “D” keys (left and right on the stick) will allow you to turn either left or right.
Setting
Battlefield 2042 will be set 21 years in the future and will feature an array of futuristic weapons and gadgets scampering around the battlegrounds.
Maps
The maps in Battlefield V were seismic to begin with, imagining that they could get any larger than they already are is difficult to comprehend. But there has been a rumour circulating online that this could, in fact, be the case.
Various sources on Twitter have indicated that there could be servers designed to have as many as 128 players in one game, meaning 64v64 combat. Nothing has been officially confirmed on this subject, but this is something to get incredibly about for all those Battlefield fans.
Will Microtransactions be included?
While there has not been any official confirmation regarding this, we would be highly surprised if some form of microtransactions were not included in the game.
Despite Battlefield V not selling as well as Battlefield 1 did, it introduced in-game purchases in what was more than likely an attempt to consolidate their disappointing sales figures. That being said, anything that can be purchased with real money, doesn’t make the player better at the game.
Like Fortnite, these changes were purely cosmetic and while many people complained about this, it appears to be the business strategy that EA have implemented, as far as Battlefield has concerned, as we cannot see them deviating from this path anytime soon. We will update this article as soon as more information becomes available.
HOW THE PLUS SYSTEM WORKS IN BATTLEFIELD 2042
Switch out weapon attachments quickly in the heat of battle. The middle of a firefight is the last place you want to spend serious time fiddling around with your weapon attachments. You need a system that’s intuitive, easy to use, and best of all FAST. Luckily in Battlefield 2042 the plus system fits the bill perfectly.
Hold down the appropriate button/key for your preferred platform (see below) to see what attachments are available on your current weapon. Each arm of the menu grants access to a different category of attachment to select from, releasing the button instantly equips the selection. This allows you to experiment with these attachments to find what best meets your needs in a particular firefight or just fits your overall playstyle better.
For PC: Hold down the “T” key, left click to select, then release the “T” key to equip
For Xbox press and hold LB, use the directional buttons to select, then release LB to equip.
For PlayStation press and hold L1, use the directional buttons to select, then release L1 to equip.
How do I unlock more content for the Plus System?
Although your options are limited at the start of Battlefield 2042, the Plus System will gradually accumulate more attachments as you level up. These are typically tied to your Mastery Level with each specific weapon — that is, the more kills you rack up, the more attachments you’ll unlock.
You can view all currently unlocked Plus System attachments — and change your Plus System layout — by following these simple steps:
- Head to the Main Menu.
- Select the Collection tab at the top of the screen.
- Navigate to the Weapons submenu.
- Select the weapon you’d like to view/modify.
This will pull up a menu that shows all the gear you’ve unlocked for your specific weapon. It’ll also give you a chance to add each piece of gear to the Plus System — making it easy to optimize your build before heading into a match.
Keep in mind that there are more unlockable attachments than there are slots in the Plus System, so you’ll need to make sure you’re only bringing your favorite gear into battle. These can be changed at the end of every battle, but while you’re in-game, you’ll only have access to those attachments you’ve slotted into the Plus System.
Battlefield 2042 marks the return to the iconic all-out warfare of the franchise. Adapt and overcome dynamically-changing battlegrounds with the help of your squad and a cutting-edge arsenal. With support for 128 players*, prepare for unprecedented scale on vast environments.
Design choices and balancing issues have made enjoying the game 128-player battles challenging to enjoy. One common complaint with Battlefield 2042 is the design choices with many of the game’s gigantic maps.
Battlefield 2042 is flawed, to put it mildly, and the developers are rethinking their schedule to address those shortcomings. DICE and EA have officially delayed the game’s first season to early summer, and will use the extra time to fix the core experience.
Battlefield 2042 launched with 128-player game modes on new-gen consoles and PC, while the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game are capped at 64 players.
