Who is Rudric in Lost Ark?

Since plenty of people are asking this question in the game’s chat, let’s quickly address it: Rudric is a World Boss and defeating him ticks off a box in your Adventurer’s Tome. Basically, he’s one of the first big bad guys who spawns sporadically, prompting other players to share his whereabouts while in-game.

That’s the practical answer at least. In the Lost Ark lore, Rudric was once a High Priest from the Holy Sacrian Empire. The Empire fell, and so did Rudric. Not before dabbling in forbidden magic and accidentally turning himself into a mindless corpse- and soul-eater though. Rudric has since taken up residence in a lovely graveyard, doomed to forever fight Lost Ark players looking for loot.

Fittingly, world bosses are a good example of this, so if you’re having trouble with the Lost Ark Rudric location, here’s how to find him.

Lost Ark Rudric location: Where to find the world boss

Rudric is likely to be one of the first world bosses you come across in Lost Ark, and you’ll find him in the Rethramis Adventurer’s Tome—this is essentially a list of activities you can complete in any given area. The Tome tells you he was once a high priest but it doesn’t give you his location.

Rudric is found in the graveyard to the west of Regria Monastery, which makes sense considering his priestly background. He’s pretty easy to spot as he has a huge lantern on his back, but if you can’t find him in the immediate area, you may need to wait for him to respawn.

As with most MMO world bosses, Rudric can be killed by any players that find him, so if he’s been killed recently, you might need to wait up to 30 minutes for him to reappear. You need a decent-sized group if you hope to defeat him, and that’s where area chat can be helpful: announce his location and rally players to help you take him down.

Rudric location and respawn time in Lost Ark

Rudric only spawns in the Graveyard, an area part of the Rethramis Border map (see picture). He isn’t glued to one particular spot, but he always stays within the red circle marked on the right. Rethramis Border is the fourth area you’ll come across after completing the prologue in Lost Ark, so you’ll be able to find Rudric pretty early on.

Going to the right place isn’t the trickiest part of taking down your first Lost Ark World Boss though. The real difficulty is finding him while he’s actually alive (or wandering around, at least). Rudric has a respawn time of 30 minutes, and he doesn’t tend to live long before players take him down.

If you don’t see anything upon arrival in the Graveyard, you can either wait or (and this is better) try changing channels in the upper right corner of your screen. Keep switching until you find one with a fresh Rudric.

How to defeat Rudric in Lost Ark

The Rudric fight has some advantages over bosses in more closed off areas, such as Rovlen, since you’ve got more room to move around in. Rudric is also slower, and ranged classes have a clear edge in combat thanks to his reliance on melee and close-range attacks.

Rubric’s primary attack is a wide swing of his scythe. It’s surprisingly swift for such a large scythe, and it’ll knock you back quite a bit if it hits. There’s just enough time from the area of effect cone appearing to the actual attack for you to dart away, though. If you’re playing a melee class, you’ll settle into a rhythm of attacking and retreating before Rudric finally falls.

As with any other Lost Ark boss fight, it’s much easier if you have a good PvE class and a party of other people to join with. That last part should start being simpler to coordinate once Lost Ark’s queues settle down and servers open up for normal play.
