As we all know, Boruto continued the story of Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto. Now, while a lot of the characters from the original series remained, Boruto also introduced a plethora of new characters that have taken over the protagonist roles from the “old” generation. In this article, we are going to focus on two of these characters, as we compare them to determine which one is stronger. This article will finally reveal whether Boruto is stronger than Mitsuki or not.
Boruto vs Mitsuki: Who Is Stronger?
Boruto is stronger than Mitsuki, that is out of the question. Although Boruto had a bit of a slow start, he has advanced and evolved quickly, ultimately surpassing Mitsuki and his abilities. Boruto’s newest form is extremely powerful and he is slowly reaching his father’s level of power, which means that Mitsuki is no match for him at this moment.
The rest of this article will further elaborate on the above-given answer, as we are going to compare Boruto and Mitsuki in more detail. Through several categories, you are going to see who the stronger of the two is and why our answer is like it is, i.e., why Boruto would ultimately be able to defeat Mitsuki in a direct fight.
Chakra and physical powers
Inheriting his father’s vast chakra reserves, Boruto is able to create four shadow clones even after having much of his chakra absorbed into himself. He also heavily inherited the power of the Ōtsutsuki, and because he possesses Byakugan user blood, he was able to communicate with the deceased spirit of Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki. His chakra control is notably advanced, as he was able to perform one-handed mudras and use the Rasengan effectively after only a few days of training before instinctively refining and improving the technique.
Boruto is particularly quick, able to quickly slip past his opponents unnoticed. Boruto was shown to be quite skilled in taijutsu, able to mount relentless assaults through coordinated strikes from each of his limbs. As a descendant of the Hyūga clan, he learned the basic use of Jūken, though without a Byakugan he could not target an enemy’s tenketsu. He also possesses considerable strength, capable of delivering strikes powerful enough to shatter the ground.
A clone of Orochimaru, Mitsuki has an extremely high chakra level for his age, enough to reach sage mode. He is extremely fast and agile, able to dodge attacks and redirect them against the enemy. Mitsuki’s fighting style is very advanced in Taijutsu and is shown to be very fluid and graceful. He can seamlessly slip through his opponent’s defenses and strike with great flexibility. His specialty seems to be body grabs and chokeholds that resemble a snake. He was also able to hold his own in a brief melee against Suigetsu Hōzuki.
Just as Naruto was always dominant when chakra reserves are concerned, so is Boruto. Despite being very powerful, Mitsuki is simply no match for Boruto in this category.
Points: Boruto 1, Mitsuki 0
Ninjutsu
Before entering the Academy, Boruto could create several shadow clones, able to coordinate his attacks with his clones to put in difficulty a chûnin, or even a jônin. Initially, Boruto needed his clones to be within sight for them to work. He also learned various sexy techniques from his father. Though initially unsuccessful when learning the Rasengan, Boruto later learned how to create a scaled-down version of it between two hands under Konohamaru’s guidance, then grow it to normal size using a single hand.
When he went to the Ryūchi Cave, he signed a contract with Garaga, allowing him to summon the giant serpent whenever he wished. Likewise, he also formed a kinship with snakes, able to befriend any snake to help him. He can also perform cooperative ninjutsu and fūinjutsu, able to use both to restrict a person’s movements and increase attack power alongside other users at his side.
Mitsuki’s main ability is to extend his limbs by using his Chakra, being able to use them as weapons or to restrict movements. Mitsuki also possesses techniques that use snakes, like his father Orochimaru, he can suddenly draw snakes from his sleeves to constrict and inject poison into his opponents, as well as create snakes that track targets and then become clones of himself. He possesses great sensory abilities, being able to detect the presence of enemies in the area.
Now, at one point, Boruto certainly surpasses Mitsuki and will become more powerful than him, but because of Mitsuki’s past achievements, we have decided to divide the points in this category.
Points: Boruto 2, Mitsuki 1
Dōjutsu / Senjutsu
At the age of eight, Boruto began to unconsciously activate the Jōgan in his right eye, prompted by a prophetic dream given by Toneri Ōtsutsuki and the appearance of Nue. Originally, the eye was instinctively only activated in times of great threat, as it lay dormant for a long time until facing Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki.
However, later, at age 16, he was able to activate it by his own will. This dōjutsu gives him the ability to sense things usually invisible to the naked eye. He can perceive chakra flow, allowing Boruto to see visible changes in his chakra and also track a target through his chakra. He can also see the chakra circulatory system and its key points, and see through the invisible barriers that connect dimensions.
Mitsuki possesses the ability to use the Sage Transformation, using it to achieve Sage Mode. However, he is able to access her subconsciously, in the anime he can access it at will. Upon entering this state, he gains ethereal Chakra snakes around his body that allow it to increase his attack range, as well as growing a horn in the center of his forehead.
His hair begins to wave constantly and he gains heavy black pigmentation around his nose and eyes, which turn yellow. His strength increases, as does his speed, being able to snatch a scroll from Orochimaru’s hands without Orochimaru even noticing him. In the anime, he uses a version of this mode that lacks the horn and pigmentation.
Now, while Mitsuki’s powers are, certainly, impressive, the Jōgan is simply a level of its own. The Jōgan is much more powerful than Mitsuki’s powers and that is why we had Boruto win this one as well.
Points: Boruto 3, Mitsuki 1
Intelligence
Although usually carefree to the point of being perceived as lazy, Boruto is a very perceptive individual who excels at reading the situation and adapting to it. Although he resembles his father, he shows remarkable ingenuity with the technique of Multi-Cloning for complex strategies, but he shows it more subtly since he is limited to four clones.
While preferring a more direct overall approach to combat, he adapted to various complex feints and misdirections, allowing him to get the better of Iwabee and even the likes of Momoshiki. He also adapts to exploiting the flaws and weaknesses, both his own and those of his enemies, that lie at the heart of his battles. He was shown to be able to perfectly solve advanced problems by his own methods.
Inojin claimed he has a knack for it. In addition, he was the only student in his class to pass the written exercise of the final exams without cheating, obtaining a perfect score. Boruto is also good at using other people’s abilities in creating a strategy, making the most of his allies’ skills. His cunning in battle was even able to deceive and ultimately defeat Ao, a famous jōnin and veteran of Kiri Village with decades of experience and powerful cybernetic weapons.
Mitsuki has been shown to be quite intelligent. He has sharp wits, is very observant in combat, and also possesses advanced math skills.
Although Boruto is not as… carefree… as his father was perceived to be, Mitsuki is still a more focused opponent and would outwit Boruto were it to come down to intelligence alone.

Boruto vs Mitsuki: Who would win?
And now for the most important and interesting section of our article – the analysis. Here, we are going to use what we have found out about these two characters and analyze how all these facts would (or would not) help them in a fight against each other. Let us continue.
And now that we have come to the end of our analysis, we can sum the whole thing up. The points show that Boruto is the better fighter, but although the difference between them is not that large when the points are concerned, it is much larger in real life, especially now that Boruto has matured and evolved as a character.
Initially, Mitsuki was way more powerful, but as Boruto discovered his new powers and abilities, he became the better fighter and he eventually surpassed Mitsuki, which is evidenced both by our points, as well as the feats he has done in the manga and the anime. This small difference in the points reflects their previous balance of power, which is now – more or less – obsolete. That is why Boruto wins this one.
Who is the strongest ninja in Naruto?
Whatever you call him, Kakashi is one of the strongest shinobi throughout “Naruto,” fitting into the legendary teacher-student lineage that goes all the way back to the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju. And Kakashi himself begins “Naruto” as the sensei for our titular hero, as well as Sasuke and Sakura.
Will Boruto surpass Mitsuki?
Strong as Boruto Uzumaki is, there is absolutely no way in which he can fight and defeat Mitsuki . Even if he uses what little of the Karma powers that he knows, Boruto is far inferior in skill when compared to Mitsuki, and thus, won’t be able to beat him.
Who can surpass Naruto?
Mitsuki is probably the most powerful of his generation and he is probably as strong or even stronger than some high-ranking Shinobi, Mitsuki is clearly more powerful than Boruto , but Boruto has a lot of exploit against characters far stronger than him and he has some techniques that are a big danger to the enemy, so …
Strong as Boruto Uzumaki is, there is absolutely no way in which he can fight and defeat Mitsuki. Even if he uses what little of the Karma powers that he knows, Boruto is far inferior in skill when compared to Mitsuki, and thus, won’t be able to beat him.
Mitsuki is powerful, but he is inexperienced with Sage Mode, Naruto can quickly absorb the energy and he can use shadow clones so that he can basically stay in Sage Mode longer, or atleast enter it really quickly a couple of times. Naruto is simply all around better, Mitsuki doe.
Isshiki Otsutsuki is the strongest character in Boruto. Along with the excellent evasion skills that come from his ability to shrink himself, Isshiki’s jutsu can also alter the size of inanimate objects and even summon them as per his will.
Hence, mitsuki is definitely stronger of the two considering his capabilities and his lightning release far exceeds the strengths of sarada.
