The Flash-Review

The Flash Theme

The Flash is an epic time travel adventure that takes viewers on a thrilling journey through the DC Extended Universe. Starring Ezra Miller as Barry Allen, aka The Flash, the movie boasts a strong emotional core centered around Barry’s desire to save his parents. The film offers plenty of humor, action, and fan service, with appearances from other DC Comics characters, including Michael Keaton as Batman and Ben Affleck as an alternate version of Batman.

The movie’s time travel elements are well-executed, with the story feeling perfectly suited for the character. The film’s opening sequence featuring an epic action set piece with The Flash and Batman is sure to delight fans, with Ben Affleck back in action after a long hiatus. Michael Keaton’s return as Batman is a particular highlight, with fans of the Tim Burton-era Batman movies sure to enjoy seeing him back in the role he last played in 1992.

Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck is an American actor, director, producer, and screenwriter. He first gained fame in the 1990s for his roles in films like “Dazed and Confused” and “Good Will Hunting,” which earned him an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

He has also directed several films, including “Gone Baby Gone,” “The Town,” and “Argo,” which won the Academy Award for Best Picture.

In addition to his work in entertainment, Affleck is also known for his philanthropic efforts. He has been involved with organizations such as the Eastern Congo Initiative, which works to provide assistance to people affected by conflict in the region.

Miller is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Barry Allen/The Flash in the DC Extended Universe, appearing in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “Justice League,” and his own solo film, “The Flash.”

In addition to his work in film, Miller is also a musician and member of the band Sons of an Illustrious Father. He is an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and has publicly spoken out about his own gender identity, describing himself as queer and non-binary.

While the film’s biggest fault lies in its reliance on recycled villains from Man of Steel, the emotional story and fan service make it a must-watch for DC fans. The Flash showcases Ezra Miller’s talent and humor as the hero, with Michael Keaton stepping back into his former role with ease. The movie’s emotional conclusion puts aside a bigger action finale, making for a satisfying and enjoyable experience for superhero fans.

The Flash’s greatest strength

The Flash’s greatest strength lies in how it ties Barry’s goal to his emotional trauma. He aims to use his superpowers to correct the injustices he has suffered, but ends up worsening his situation. The film’s first and third acts are driven by these emotions, which serve as the catalyst for the story. While they mostly disappear in the second act, the movie excels at taking the narrative in dark, emotional directions. Although there is one line of dialogue that sets up a payoff in the third act, the film is otherwise superb in its handling of the story’s emotional aspects.

Overall, The Flash is an excellent addition to the DC Extended Universe, delivering a well-crafted time travel adventure that’s packed with action, humor, and emotion. It’s a must-watch for DC fans and a great entry point for those new to the franchise.
