A Long Island man has claimed a $1,000,000 New York Lottery prize.

Marcellus Benson, of Bellmore in Nassau County, claimed the top prize in the lottery’s Bacon scratch-off game, the New York Lottery reported on Tuesday, Oct. 5.

He purchased his ticket at Kings Freeport Car Care, located at 301 West Merrick Rd. in Freeport.

The New York Lottery said Benson received his prize as a single lump-sum payment of $546,840 after required withholdings.

As of Tuesday, two top prizes remained on the Bacon ticket, NY Lottery said.

A New York woman has claimed a $10 million lottery prize.

Yekaterina Plyas, of Brooklyn, won the New York Lottery’s $10,000,000 Black Titanium scratch-off ticket, the NY Lottery reported on Tuesday, Oct. 10.

She received her prize as a lump-sum payment of $6,122,400 after required withholdings.

The Kings County woman purchased the ticket at S&K Warbasse Pharmacy, located at 499 Neptune Ave. in Brooklyn, said NY Lottery officials.

As part of the New York State Gaming Commission, it provides revenue for public education and is based in Schenectady.
Players must be at least 18 (including video lottery); however, the minimum is 21 for Quick Draw (a keno game drawn four minutes apart) where alcohol is served.

Lottery winnings are subject to state and Federal income taxes. New York City and Yonkers residents also are subject to local income taxes.
