Miley Cyrus Takes the Stage in a Graphic Tee, Short Shorts & Metallic Go-Go Boots at Lollapalooza

Miley Cyrus channeled the 1980s for her Lollapoolaza performance last night in Chicago.

The “Slide Away” singer took the stage during the music festival on Thursday, opting for a retro-inspired look to go along with her mullet haircut. The ensemble teamed a blue tee, reading “Roy Halston,” from brand Alled-Martinez along with coordinating blue and white short shorts.

When it came to footwear, Cyrus rounded out the retro moment in a set of silver go-go boots. Go-go boots were a hit shoe in the ’60s and ’70s with their lifted toes, patent, latex-like uppers and block heels. While you may not see them all over today’s runways, the style is still great for completing any throwback costume (from a go-go dancer to Britney Spears in “Oops…I Did It Again”) or adding bold flair to an everyday look.

The “Hannah Montana” alumna’s own pair came with a platform metallic silver twist, hitting just below the knee. The silhouette measures close to 5 inches in height and bears resemblance to similar silhouettes from Cyrus’ go-to brand, Gucci. As for Cyrus herself, the singer is no stranger to a stir-causing style moment. While she is best known for her hit albums and box office films, the Disney Channel alumna also dips her toes in the fashion and shoe space. She even made an appearance on the runway at the Marc Jacobs’ fall ’20 show and has also sat front row at shows for top labels such as Tom Ford and Saint Laurent. The “Last Song” actress also has worked with Converse on a series of pride-filled shoe collections.

The Converse collaborator has also been vegan for years, leading her to oftentimes embrace wardrobe pieces that are cruelty-free. In fact, at last year’s Met Gala, Cyrus teamed a Saint Laurent minidress with a custom vegan leather version of the brand’s Paige platform sandals. Her other go-to designers for fashion and apparel include any label that can give her look a standout edge — think Versace, Saint Laurent, Alexandre Vauthier and Azalea Wang amongst others.

Miley Cyrus’ Pets Join Her in Gucci Campaign

Miley Cyrus is starring in the new Gucci Beauty campaign!

The 28-year-old singer was joined by some gorgeous pets while escaping into a joy-fuelled fantasy land with Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia.

“Fragrances are explorations and flowers, in particular, represent a world of infinite possibilities. Just as you can delight in drawing out different notes from a bouquet—in this case, the Gardenia, whose scent is unusual, sensual and intense—for the campaign, I had fun building a surreal and enchanting world around Miley Cyrus, creating a playful contrast between this artist with a rock ‘n’ roll spirit and a flowery universe,” Gucci‘s Alessandro Michele said in a statement.

Miley Cyrus shows off her endless legs in gleaming silver go-go boots… as she teases rehearsals for upcoming Lollapalooza performance

She is playing Lollapalooza this Thursday night in Chicago.

And Miley Cyrus tantalized her fans earlier in the day by teasing them with a few snatches of rehearsal footage on Instagram.

The 28-year-old pop star could be seen showing off her breathtaking legs as she strutted her stuff out onto the stage.

Miley, who comes from a musical family by way of her country singer father Billy Ray Cyrus, emphasized the leggy effect with gleaming silver gogo boots.

She slipped into comfortable-looking elastic shorts for her rehearsal – but selected a shimmering metallic pair that perfectly complemented her footwear.

The sizzling sensation was wearing a t-shirt that read: ‘ROY HALSTON,’ referring to the late fashion designer who was known by the mononym Halston.

Halston, who worked with such musical acts as Liza Minnelli, has enjoyed a renaissance of fame because of a new Netflix biopic show starring Ewan McGregor.

Miley’s rehearsal footage included a clip of her dancing sensuously and gyrating her hips as some of the men in the crew stood by.

The blonde bombshell playfully stuck her tongue out at the camera, grabbed her derriere and threw a peace sign up into the air.

She could be seen on her Instagram page rehearsing her song SMS (Bangerz) – which featured Britney Spears when it was released as a record in 2013.

Miley recently bellowed: ‘Free Britney!’ onstage in Las Vegas, throwing her support behind her old duet partner as she fights a legal battle against her father Jamie over the conservatorship he has held of her since her infamous meltdown in 2008.

Lollapalooza

/ˌlɒləpəˈluːzə/ (Lolla) is an annual four-day music festival held in Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois. It started as a touring event in 1991. Music genres include but are not limited to alternative rock, heavy metal, punk rock, hip hop, and electronic music. Lollapalooza has also featured visual arts, nonprofit organizations, and political organizations. The festival in Chicago’s Grant Park hosts an estimated 400,000 people each July and sells out annually.

Lollapalooza is considered one of the largest and most iconic music festivals in the world and one of the longest-running in the United States.

Lollapalooza was conceived and created in 1991 as a farewell tour by Perry Farrell, singer of Jane’s Addiction. The first Lollapalooza tour had a diverse collection of bands and was a commercial success. It stopped in more than twenty cities in North America. In 2020, Spin rated the first Lollapalooza as the best concert on a list of “The 35 Greatest Concerts of the Last 35 Years”.

Lollapalooza then ran annually until 1997, and was revived in 2003. From its inception through 1997 and its revival in 2003, the festival toured North America. In 2004, the organizers decided to expand the dates to two days per city, but poor ticket sales forced the 2004 tour to be cancelled.

Lollapalooza opens in Chicago: Scenes from Day 1 from the entrance to the T-Mobile stage

Lollapalooza opened Thursday in Grant Park amid a swirl of questions — about crowds, about rising COVID-19 cases in Chicago, about how entry procedures and health screening would be handled.

That last question turned out to be a non-question, at least on the festival’s first day. Lollapalooza has returned this summer on Chicago’s lakefront after taking last year off because of the pandemic, running through Sunday with headliners including Tyler, the Creator, Megan Thee Stallion and Foo Fighters.

The main gate opened a little before 11 a.m. on Michigan Avenue.

A group from Cleveland were among the first in line, having been waiting in the sun since 8:30 a.m. “When we get in, we’re running first to the merch, then to the guardrails,” said Robbie Rodick, 24.

They had heard the band merchandise can sell out the first day. The guardrail they meant is at the front of the T-Mobile stage, where they planned to stake their claim all the way through Playboi Carti and Miley Cyrus.

Once the gates opened, those crowds were quickly dispatched into the park.

Lollapalooza requires proof of COVID-19 vaccines at the gates or a negative COVID-19 test from the last 72 hours. The festival, put on by Austin, Texas-based C3 Presents, is not using apps such as the CLEAR app that have been used by music festivals elsewhere, asking instead for paper documents and copies of vaccine cards. The festival reported on social media that about 600 were turned away without proper documentation on Thursday.

The festival is the largest gathering of its kind in Chicago since before the pandemic. Mayor Lori Lightfoot has defended allowing its return, even as she has said she would consider a mask mandate and other restrictions once the city returns to having at least 200 COVID-19 cases per day on average.

Lightfoot said safety is a “primary consideration” at such gatherings, “and certainly this year.”

The city’s average number of daily new cases inched up to 190 on Thursday, up from 185 the previous day, but far below an April peak of nearly 650 new cases per day. Hospitalizations remain low, averaging eight new instances daily, while the average number of deaths daily related to COVID-19 remains below one.
