Cristiano Ronaldo agrees to Manchester United return
cristiano :
Today I depart from an amazing club, the biggest in Italy and surely one of the biggest in all of Europe.
I gave my heart and soul for Juventus and I’ll always love the city of Turin until my final days. The “tifosi bianconeri” always respected me and I tried to thank that respect by fighting for them in every game, every season, every competition. In the end, we can all look back and realize that we achieved great things, not all that we wanted, but still, we wrote a pretty beautiful story together.
The 36-year-old will again play at Old Trafford 12 years after leaving United to join Real Madrid in 2009, where he remained until joining Juventus in 2018.
United posted a collage of Ronaldo from his previous playing days at the club on Twitter along with the words: “Welcome home, @Cristiano.”
A statement from United read, “Manchester United is delighted to confirm that the club has reached agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo, subject to agreement of personal terms, visa and medical.
“Cristiano, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, has so far won over 30 major trophies during his career, including five Champions League titles, four FIFA Club World Cup, seven league titles in England, Spain and Italy, and the European Championship for his native Portugal.
“In his first spell for Manchester United, he scored 118 goals in 292 games. Everyone at the club looks forward to welcoming Cristiano back to Manchester.”
Ronaldo soon took to Instagram, saying he gave his “heart and soul for Juventus.”
“I’ll always love the city of Turin until my final days,” he wrote. He never won the Champions League with Juventus, like he did with United in 2008 and four times with Madrid, but was the top scorer in Serie A for the last two seasons and scored 101 goals in 134 appearances.
“In the end,” Ronaldo said, “we can all look back and realize that we achieved great things, not all that we wanted, but still, we wrote a pretty beautiful story together.”
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, once a teammate of Ronaldo, said: “He is the greatest player of all time, definitely.”
He first joined United from Portuguese side Sporting CP in 2003. In the following six years, he swiftly became one of the most fearsome strikers in the world, winning the first of his five FIFA world player of the year awards.
The Portugal international then left for Madrid in 2009 for a then-world-record fee of £80 million but will now make an emotional return.
ESPN reported in June that Ronaldo’s representatives were gauging interest from some of Europe’s top clubs ahead of his potential departure from Juventus this summer after three years in Italy.
Manchester City were one of the clubs who looked at the possibility, but on Friday sources told ESPN they had pulled out of the race.
Rio Ferdinand has confirmed that he spoke to his former United teammate asking him not to move to the Etihad Stadium.
Talks between Ronaldo, United and Juventus began on Thursday night.
Ronaldo did not train with Juventus on Friday, and instead left Italy on a private jet. Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri later confirmed that Ronaldo had asked to leave the club before the transfer deadline on Aug. 31.
It is the latest blockbuster move of the transfer window, coming barely two weeks after Lionel Messi — Ronaldo’s long-time rival — joined Paris Saint-Germain after his contract at Barcelona expired. PSG forward Kylian Mbappe is also the subject of a bid from Real Madrid.

Edinson Cavani’s brother confirms Man Utd’s plans after Cristiano Ronaldo transfer
United confirmed an agreement to sign Ronaldo on Friday, bringing him back to the club after 12 years away and beating rivals Manchester City to the transfer
Edinson Cavani’s brother and agent says the Uruguayan forward is not leaving the club despite the imminent arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford.
Ronaldo is returning to the club after 12 years away as United dramatically swooped in to sign the 36-year-old forward from under rivals Manchester City’s noses on Friday.
Pep Guardiola’s City had been widely expected to complete a deal for Ronaldo, who they turned to after failing to agree a deal for Tottenham and England forward Harry Kane.
Ronaldo informed Juventus of his wish to leave the club on Friday, and when he boarded a plane in Turin that was bound for Lisbon ahead of international duty, it was widely expected that he would undergo a medical with City and sign for the Premier League champions.
However, United muscled ahead in the deal and announced Ronaldo’s return early on Friday evening.
Man Utd stances on three first-team exits revealed after Ronaldo bombshell
What Man Utd plan to do with three senior first-team stars following the blockbuster Cristiano Ronaldo announcement has been revealed.
Ronaldo, 36, is on course to call Old Trafford his home once more. Juventus have reportedly accepted an initial €15m bid prior to add-ons for his services. Once officially confirmed, Ronaldo will reportedly pocket £480,000-per-week.
Several members of the current Man Utd first-team reacted exactly how you might have expected on social media. In typical fashion, however, Roy Keane served up a more blunt response.
Ronaldo’s arrival will likely see him installed as the first-choice centre-forward. Indeed, Gary Neville declared the goal machine will be deployed at the spearhead of the attack.
That will likely demote Edinson Cavani to a bench role. And with Mason Greenwood’s only hope of making the starting eleven now by occupying a wide berth, Jesse Lingard’s chances of featuring regularly have also declined.
Ronaldo’s gargantuan salary could feasibly have a knock-on effect on the club’s decision over what to do with Paul Pogba.
But according to trusted source Fabrizio Romano, the futures of Cavani and Pogba are secure.
Romano tweeted Man Utd are ‘100 percent’ committed to keeping the Uruguayan despite Ronaldo’s impending arrival. Furthermore, the player himself is ‘absolutely not considering’ a premature exit.
Pogba is also deemed to be ‘staying’ and was ‘never involved’ in any proposal to Juventus regarding Ronaldo’s move.
The pair’s futures are secure, though there appears to be less certainty regarding Lingard.
Man United agree deal to re-sign Ronaldo from Juventus
Manchester United have agreed a deal to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus, the Premier League club announced on Friday, with the transfer subject to the agreement of personal terms, visa and a medical.
The Portugal forward is headedback to the club where he won eight major trophies from 2003-2009. Financial details were not disclosed but British and Italian media said United would buy Ronaldo for 25 million euros on a two-year deal.
Ronaldo, signed by Juve in 2018 for 100 million euros ($117.90 million) from Real Madrid in the hope of leading them to an elusive Champions League title, will leave the club with 101 goals, two league crowns and a Coppa Italia to his name.
The 36-year-old won the Ballon d’Or as the world’s best player in 2008 at United alongside his team accolades, before sealing a then world record 80 million pounds move to Madrid.
After telling Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri on Thursday of his desire to leave Turin, widespread media reports claimed Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, had agreed personal terms with Premier League champions Manchester City.
But after City were said to have had a change of heart over the deal, rivals United got the transfer agreed.
