Super Smash Bros. Ultimate : Halo Developer Says Master Chief Won’t Appear

Xbox And Halo Fans Want Smash Bros. To ‘Finish The Fight’ With Master Chief.

Well, nevermind! Halo community manager John Junyszek has been spotted discussing this on Twitter, telling fans that it’s “not happening but would be sick”. Best not to get your hopes up for later today!

Original story: ‘Master Chief’ has been trending on social media platforms like Twitter recently, and while you might think it’s something to do with the recent multiplayer technical preview for Halo Infinite, the majority of fan messages we’ve seen appear to actually be about Nintendo‘s game, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Nintendo‘s all-star brawler reveals its final DLC fighter today, and many Xbox and Halo fans are still hopeful it will be the system’s OG mascot, Master Chief – who this year celebrates his 20th anniversary. While this is still arguably a long shot, depending on who you talk to, Microsoft technically has quite a lot of representatives in the game already.

There’s Rare’s Banjo-Kazooie, Steve & Alex from Minecraft and even DLC outfits based on Bethesda’s IP, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and the Fallout series.

Halo Developer Says Master Chief Won’t Appear in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

In a few short hours, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai will reveal the final fighter for the Nintendo Switch game.

Speculation is at an all-time high on the eve of the announcement, but there’s one potential fighter that has apparently been debunked: Master Chief will not appear in the game. That news was shared tonight by Halo community manager John Junyszek. Junyszek played along with a viral Tweet saying that the final fighter in Smash Bros. Ultimate would be a character from the last game the user played. Junyszek replied with “maybe one day,” then followed up with “(aka not happening, but would be sick).”

The news is sure to come as a disappointment to a lot of Halo fans! The character is easily one of gaming’s biggest icons, which would have made him a good fit for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, despite the fact that he has never appeared in a Nintendo game. Some fans weren’t sure whether to believe Junyszek, and one even questioned whether the community manager would be privy to such information. Junyszek said that 343 Industries is kept closely in the loop when it comes to collaborations, and would certainly be aware of Microsoft and Nintendo’s plans for Master Chief.

“We do crossovers all the time (Sea of Thieves, Fortnite, etc.). With cool partnerships like these, both teams (us and them) work closely to ensure the crossovers fit naturally within their universe while staying true and respectful to the original designs,” Junyszek replied.

Microsoft currently has two fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: Banjo & Kazooie and Steve. When it comes to characters from companies other than Nintendo, there are multiple publishers that have three representatives, including Capcom and Square Enix. It’s possible that a different Microsoft character could make the cut (Doom Slayer has long been rumored), or it could be from a different publisher entirely. Fans will just have to watch tomorrow’s presentation to find out who the final character will be!

Nintendo

Nintendo Co., Ltd. is a Japanese multinational consumer electronics and video game company headquartered in Kyoto, Japan.

The company was founded in 1889 as Nintendo Karuta by craftsman Fusajiro Yamauchi and originally produced handmade hanafuda playing cards. After venturing into various lines of business during the 1960s and acquiring a legal status as a public company under the current company name, Nintendo distributed its first video game console, the Color TV-Game, in 1977.

It gained international recognition with the release of Donkey Kong in 1981 and the Nintendo Entertainment System and Super Mario Bros. in 1985.

and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. It is the fifth installment in the Super Smash Bros.

series, succeeding Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. The game follows the series’ traditional style of gameplay: controlling one of the various characters, players must use differing attacks to weaken their opponents and knock them out of an arena. It features a wide variety of game modes, including a campaign for single-player and multiplayer versus modes.

Ultimate features over 80 playable fighters, including everyone from all previous Super Smash Bros. games alongside several newcomers. The roster ranges from Nintendo mascots to characters from third-party franchises, with the game being supported with post-release downloadable content that adds more fighters and other content.

So, Who Will Be The Final Fighter In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate?

It has to be said that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has had an extraordinary run.

Masahiro Sakurai and his team have overseen an ongoing and hugely hyped project to expand upon the launch roster, through the Fighters Passes, with the second volume’s sixth and final character confirmed to be the end of the road.

As you undoubtedly know, this is being revealed tomorrow (5th October) at 7am Pacific / 10am Eastern / 3pm UK / 4pm CEST in a special broadcast that will last around 40 minutes.

When it comes to predicting the final addition – number 82 on the official roster – it feels like all bets are off. The DLC additions in particular have delivered some long-awaited characters that were assumed to be off the board due to logistical issues: Joker, Banjo & Kazooie, Steve / Alex, Kazuya. It seems that almost no franchise is out of bounds, and when a game has been on the go for as long as Ultimate it feels like no character is truly impossible.

Well, to gear up for the excitement we’ve taken a previous list of ours, made a couple of necessary tweaks and once again ended it all with a poll. So, take a look and let us know who you think will wrap up the line-up.
