Evander Kane’s pregnant wife says NHL star tanked games for gambling profit !

NHL to investigate claim Sharks’ Kane bet on own games

NHL star Evander Kane’s pregnant wife ripped her husband in a scathing Instagram post — claiming the San Jose Sharks forward is a gambling addict who tanked games for profit and abandoned her with their toddler to party in Europe while their house is being “taken by the bank.”

The Saturday Instagram stories have apparently already prompted an investigation by the National Hockey League, which said in a tweet it was aware of the posts and intended to “conduct a full investigation.”

Anna Kane let loose on her husband in the blistering posts, painting him as an addict who had left her with no money to even buy formula for their daughter.

“How does the NHL let a compulsive gambling addict still play when he’s obviously throwing games to win money?” she wrote. “Hmm maybe someone needs to address this.”

In another, the wife of the forward wrote, “Can someone ask (Commissioner) Gary Bettman how they let a player gamble on his own games? Bet and win with bookies on his own games?”

Kane’s manager denied the allegations, telling The Post, “They are serious but they’re not true.”

“We’ve been advised not to say anything right now,” manager Karl Mullins told The Post, adding the couple was “just having problems” and that the player would speak out “after the investigation is complete.”

In a statement posted to social media, Evander Kane denied the accusations by his “soon be ex wife” — calling them “FALSE” and that he has “NEVER gambled/bet on Hockey” or any San Jose Sharks games, while adding that he’d never thrown any games, either. He added that he is “looking forward to cooperating fully” with the NHL’s investigation, as well.

Evander Kane filed for bankruptcy in California in January, just two years after signing a seven-year, $49 million contract with the Sharks. In November 2019, he was sued by a Las Vegas casino over $500,000 in gambling debts.

Anna Kane describes a devastating scene in her Instagram stories Saturday.

“So you leave July 8th. You do not call or text at all for 7 days. Then you inform me you are going to Europe for a vacation must be nice, but at the same time tell me our house is being taken by the bank,” she wrote.

“But do not come home to help ur [sic] pregnant wife pack or help her with anything at all,” she added, claiming Kane “never” calls their 1-year-old daughter “who walked around the house with her bunny saying ‘dada’ for a week looking for you.”

“I don’t know if there are even words to describe the kind of evil person that you are to abandon your wife who is pregnant with your son and your one year old daughter,” she wrote.

The wife also posted a screenshot of an apparent response from the hockey player, telling her he would see their child on Aug. 8 and 9 — and asking her to leave the key to their home under the mat when she vacates.

“What a guy,” she sniped in an accompanying caption. “This is when the addiction is more important then anyone and everything. My heart goes out to anyone who has to deal with loved ones addicted to anything in any form who put that before their own family.”

NHL to investigate claim Sharks’ Kane bet on own games

The NHL said it will investigate an allegation made by Evander Kane’s wife that the San Jose Sharks forward bet on his own games and has intentionally tried to lose for gambling profit.

The league said Saturday night on Twitter that it was made aware of the social media posts from the Instagram account of Anna Kane and plans to conduct a full investigation. Anna Kane wrote: “How does the NHL let a compulsive gambling addict still play when he’s obviously throwing games to win money? Hmm maybe someone needs to address this.”

She added: “Can someone ask (Commissioner) Gary Bettman how they let a player gamble on his own games? Bet and win with bookies on his own games?”

In a separate post, Anna Kane accused her husband of spending lavishly partying in Europe while asking her to sell her wedding ring to survive and wrote about not being able to afford baby formula for their child.

The NHL said: “The integrity of our game is paramount and the League takes these allegations very seriously.”

A team spokesman wrote in an email to The Associated Press that: “The San Jose Sharks have been in contact today with the National Hockey League about the serious allegations made against Evander Kane. We support a full and transparent investigation into the situation to maintain the integrity of the game and consistency with our team values.”

Kane’s gambling history and finances have been public knowledge for some time. A Las Vegas Strip casino sued Kane in 2019, alleging he failed to repay a $500,000 gambling debt racked up during a playoff series against the Golden Knights.

Since the Supreme Court paved the way for legalized sports gambling in the U.S. and more states have adopted it, the NHL has embraced the possibilities and made several partnerships with sportsbooks and other betting organizations.

Reached by email before the league’s announcement, Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said only a statement would be coming. The league said it would not make any further comments at this time.

A message sent to Kane’s agent was not immediately returned.

Kane, 29, is three seasons into a $49 million, seven-year contract. He’s with his third organization after being drafted by and debuting with Atlanta/Winnipeg and a stint in Buffalo. According to Capfriendly, which charts hockey salaries, he has made just under $56 million during his NHL career.

Last season, he had 22 goals and 27 assists in 56 games.

NHL to investigate allegations Sharks’ Evander Kane gambled on games

Instagram Story by a person believed to be Evander Kane’s wife said that he gambled on league games

The NHL announced Saturday that it will conduct a full investigation into allegations made on social media that Sharks forward Evander Kane gambled on league games.

The social media posts, appearing Saturday afternoon in Instagram stories on an account belonging to Kane’s wife, Anna, said Kane gambled on Sharks games.

The NHL issued the following statement: “The League was made aware this evening of a post on social media alleging that San Jose Sharks Player Evander Kane bet on NHL games. The integrity of our game is paramount and the League takes these allegations very seriously.

“We intend to conduct a full investigation and will have no further comment at this time.”

One of the Instagram posts from the account of Anna Kane was directed to the NHL. “How does the NHL let a compulsive gambling addict still play when he’s obviously throwing games to win money? Hmm maybe someone needs to address this.

“Can someone ask (Commissioner) Gary Bettman how they can let a player gamble on his own games? Bet and win with bookies on his own games?”

The social media account is followed by some Sharks staff members and many wives and girlfriends of Sharks players. A source confirmed that it is Anna Kane’s account.

In her posts, Anna Kane also alleges that her husband has abandoned her and their infant daughter and forced her to sell her wedding ring in order to meet her expenses. Their home has been foreclosed, she said.

“This is when the addiction is more important then (sic) anyone and everything,” she wrote. “My heart goes out to anyone who has to deal with loved ones addicted to anything in any form who put that before their own family… I wouldn’t wish this pain or any of this on anyone this is a living nightmare.”

The Sharks, in a statement, said they have “been in contact today with the National Hockey League about the serious allegations made against Evander Kane. We support a full and transparent investigation into the situation to maintain the integrity of the game and consistency with our team values.”

It is unclear when the league’s investigation might begin or how long it might last. Efforts to reach Kane’s agent Saturday were unsuccessful.

Questions about Kane’s gambling habits began to arise in 2019 when The Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas sued him in regards to $500,000 in unpaid gambling debts. The suit was dropped in April of last year.

In January of this year, Kane filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy listing assets totaling just over $10.2 million and his liabilities at over $26.8 million. According to the petition, he lost $1.5 million due to gambling “at casino and via bookie (sports betting).”

In March, Sharks general manager Doug Wilson said Kane “is getting guidance and support in the areas that he needs.”

Kane, 29, has four seasons remaining on the seven-year, $49 million deal he signed with the Sharks in May 2018. This past season was among his best in 12 NHL seasons, as he led the Sharks in goals (22), assists (27) and points (49).
