Johannes Radebe and Kai Widdrington danced together in Movie Week opening number
Strictly’s Johannes invites everyone to a ball on the notes of Taylor Swift’s Love Story
Strictly Come Dancing fans are calling Saturday (9 October) night’s opening dance the “most beautiful” in the show’s history.
This weekend’s episode is Movie Week, with the remaining contestants performing routines based around their favourite films.
The episode opened with a stunning period drama-themed performance by the professional dancers to Taylor Swift’s “Love Story”.
Dancers Johannes Radebe and Kai Widdrington led the couples, all of whom performed in mixed and same-sex pairs. Radebe was seen crying at the end of the dance.
Fans were left spellbound by the routine, with many declaring it to be “the best group dance ever”.
“That was such a beautiful routine I am in absolute awe, the dancing, the music, the set up, EVERYTHING,” one Twitter user wrote.
“Majestic and mesmeric. Thank you Johannes and Kai for opening our Saturday #Strictly movie night with that stunning dance,” TV presenter Bobby Seagull commented.
One tweet read: “Crying is an understatement! Absolutely outstanding, emotional and wonderful. I cannot say how happy and proud I am that my kids don’t see this as a big deal (although they absolutely loved it) but this really matters. So much. Thank you #Strictly.”
Strictly’s Tom Fletcher went to school with Matt Willis
Strictly Come Dancing star Tom Fletcher is best friends with Busted singer Matt Willis, with their families even going on holiday together, but they didn’t gel as teenagers
Nowadays, Tom Fletcher and Matt Willis are incredibly close friends.
The music stars joined together in ultimate noughties boyband McBusted, go on holidays together with their families as wives Giovanna Fletcher and Emma Willis have also become best pals.
They even share their most intimate secrets – such as joining the new series of Strictly Come Dancing before it’s been officially announced.
But this wasn’t always the case, as the pair didn’t actually get on at school.
The pair attended the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School in London, which is where Tom met and fell in love with wife Giovanna.
They were alongside a host of other big showbiz names, but for some reason Tom and Matt just did not click during those teen years.
When their bands McFly and Busted joined forces to become on big supergroup, their bandmates told Jonathan Ross during an interview on his show that Matt didn’t like John at the time.
“It’s not that I didn’t like Tom,” explained Matt in 2014. “It’s just we were very different people. Although we’re probably the most alike now.”
Originally, Tom was actually in the Busted line-up after a successful audition, but the record label changed their minds and controversial decided that they only wanted three members instead of four after just 24 hours.
Tom explained: “I got told I was in then a couple of days later on Halloween I got a call from a manager saying they’re going to stick with the three of them.”
Poor Tom was booted out so Charlie Simpson could stay, but he did stick around to write songs for Busted and formed a close writing relationship with James Bourne.
Eventually he teamed up with Danny Jones, but when Busted writing projects dried up the pair decided to form their own band.

Who is Strictly’s Tom Fletcher? From McFly to children’s author
Tom Fletcher is set to make his return to Strictly Come Dancing this weekend after missing week two of the show due to Covid-19.
The McFly star and dance partner Amy Dowden were both confirmed to have tested positive for the virus the day after he made his dancefloor debut – also leading to Tom missing several tour dates he was due to play with the band.
So he’ll be hoping to make a splash on the dancefloor as he returns for the show’s Movie Week – although he’s already looking at some stiff comparisons: bandmate Harry Judd previously won Strictly in 2011 (and won’t be afraid to use that against his friend) and his wife Giovanna Fletcher triumphed on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! 2020.
If anyone has proven he can conquer different skills, though, it’s Tom Fletcher. From McFly to becoming a children’s author, let’s find out more about the star…
Who is Tom Fletcher?
Tom, 36, is best known for being the lead singer and guitarist in pop-rock group McFly along with Harry Judd, Dougie Poynter, and Danny Jones.
The group have been together on and off since 2003 releasing singles such as 5 Colours In Her Hair, Obviously and more recently, You’re Not Special.
In 2006, Tom and the rest of the McFly boys moved to the big screen, appearing alongside Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine in the movie Just My Luck.
McFly joined forces with their one-time rival, fellow noughties boyband Busted in 2013.
As McBusted, they played a 34-date tour with both Busted and McFly songs.
Who is Tom Fletcher married to and how many children do they have?
The star has been married to author Giovanna since 2012 and the couple share sons Buzz (seven), Buddy (five), and Max (three).
