The Game Awards 2022 Nominations : God of War: Ragnarok

The Game Awards has announced its nominees for 2022, as selected by a global jury of more than 100 media publications and influencer outlets.

‘Elden Ring’, ‘God of War Ragnarok’ Lead Nominees for The Game Awards 2022

During a live event streamed this morning, Geoff Keighley and the team behind the Game Awards revealed their nominees for the 2022 awards season, including their six picks for Game of the Year. The show will take place in person at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, but will also be streamed online for free on Thursday, December 8 at 7:30 PM ET/4:30 PM PT. If you’d like to vote, you can do so on the Game Awards’ official website or discord server.

Game Award for Game of the Year

The Game Award for Game of the Year is an award presented annually by The Game Awards to the video game judged to be the best from that calendar year. The process begins with several dozen video game publications and websites, chosen by the Game Awards’ advisory committee, to act as the jury each year. The board collectively names six games as nominees for Game of the Year, with any game released from the prior awards’ cut-off date to November of the current year eligible for nomination. After the nominees are released, the winner is selected by a combined vote consisting of 90% from the votes from juries and 10% by public voting. Prior to The Game Awards 2018, there were five nominees for the award before it increased to six.

Unsurprisingly, God of War Ragnarök, Elden Ring, and Horizon Forbidden West lead the pack.

Other nominees include Ebb Software’s Scorn, which has a nomination in Best Art Direction, The Outsiders’ Metal: Hellsinger in Best Score and Music, Devolver Digital’s Cult of the Lamb in Best Indie Game (alongside Stray and Vampire Survivors), and Blizzard’s Diablo Immortal for Best Mobile Game. Even Supermassive Games’ The Quarry gets a nod in the Innovation in Accessibility category, alongside Naughty Dog’s The Last Of Us Part I.
