Lauren Bushnell Lane is brushing off the trolls after welcoming her first child last year.
Lauren Bushnell Lane Talks Postpartum Body Image After Troll Calls Her ‘Sickly Looking’
The Bachelor alum, 31, got candid about her struggles with postpartum body image during a Q&A session Thursday on her Instagram Story, sharing a direct message in which someone said she was “so damn sickly looking.”
“I don’t wanna bring attention to these kind of messages but the reality is I get them. They exist,” she wrote in response.
“I don’t feel like I have to defend myself but sometimes want to esp when it’s already an insecurity and someone hits on it. No matter what I do I cannot gain weight,” the reality star continued. “The only time in the last ten years I’ve been able to is being pregnant or on oral contraceptives. Otherwise it’s just how my body wants to be.”
Societal pressures made her believe she might be sick
“On that same note I just had a bunch of blood work done because society tells you that if you don’t fit into a certain mold- there is something wrong with you. I’m all for getting blood work done esp post baby bc they drain a ton of nutrients but reading messages ab my weight was making me believe there was something wrong with me,” Bushnell Lane wrote.
“I convinced myself I was sick. I’ve spent so much money on lab work and micronutrient tests because I was convinced that surely I was sick or there was something wrong but everything is great (thank goodness!!)” she continued. “Just a little low in vitamin D.”
Her struggles with postpartum anxiety
In September, she shared her struggles with postpartum anxiety, writing on Instagram at the time that she was experiencing panic attacks and having a difficult time balancing motherhood and her responsibilities.
“4 month sleep regression hitting harddddd. I know this is a highlight reel but let me tell you- I was too frazzled yesterday to take a photo of this little guy inconsolable and screaming for two hours straight,” she wrote. “It’s truly the most heartbreaking feeling watching your baby meltdown and be over tired.”
“This is by far the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” Bushnell Lane later added. “Balancing work, a 3 month old, pp anxiety and hormones, lack of sleep, and finding time for me has been a challenge.”
Is Lauren Lane pregnant again?
As of November 2021, Lauren isn’t pregnant for the second time. However, she has shared views of being a mother for the second time. They want to give a sibling to their son, Dutton. Lauren never forgets her childhood days which she spent together with three siblings. Therefore, she is quite clear that her son too needs a friend as a sibling for a better childhood experience.
Talking more about her personal life, she enjoys utilizing her time involved in furnishing the home and discovering the best modern yet classic home accessories. When she is free, she manages her time to spend in the kitchen and explore more ideas on skincare, beauty and recipes.
What about her husband?
In 2015, both Lauren and Chris Lane were invited to a radio event where they met for the first time. The event was organized in Austin, Texas. However, they need more than a year to start their romantic journey. It was Chris who invited Lauren to vacation alongside his group of friends in August 2018.
After the vacation, Lane returned to Nashville and Bushnell and then went back to Los Angeles, California. Despite being far away, they managed to remain in contact through regular phone calls. In 2019, it was confirmed that the couple was having a long-distance relationship. They decided to get engaged within a year of announcing publicly dating love birds on June 16, 2019.
Chris came forward and proposed to Lauren at her parents’ home where he played a song titled “Big, Big Plans”. Finally, their wedding took place on October 25, 2019, in Nashville which was attended by about 160 people. The ceremony was also witnessed by country music singer/ actress Jana Kramer (December 2, 1983) and her husband Michael Caussin, a former football tight-end.

What is postpartum anxiety?
The wait is finally over: after 40 weeks of medical appointments, nursery planning, and anticipation, your baby has finally arrived. She is perfect in your eyes, healthy and adorable. Yet over the next few weeks, your initial joy is replaced by all-consuming worries: Is she feeding enough? Why is she crying so often? Is something medically wrong with her?
These worries are constant during the day and keep you up at night. You feel tense and irritable, your heart races, and you feel panicky. Your family members start to express their concern —not just about the baby, but about you. You wonder whether your anxiety is normal.
Baby blues, postpartum depression, or postpartum anxiety?
Chances are, you have heard about the baby blues or postpartum depression. You may have even filled out questionnaires about your mood during your postpartum doctor’s visit. The baby blues are a very common reaction to decreasing hormone levels after delivery, and may leave you feeling sad, weepy, and overwhelmed. However, these symptoms are mild and only last for a couple of weeks. When the symptoms persist and become debilitating, something else could be going on.
Many symptoms overlap between postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety (such as poor sleep, trouble relaxing, and irritability). Mothers experiencing postpartum depression commonly experience symptoms of anxiety, although not all mothers suffering from anxiety are depressed. Establishing the correct diagnosis is important, as women with postpartum anxiety may not respond as well to certain treatments for depression, such as interpersonal psychotherapy or medications such as bupropion (Wellbutrin).
Symptoms of postpartum anxiety
Keep in mind that most (if not all) new parents experience some worry. But the symptoms of postpartum anxiety disorder include:
- constant or near-constant worry that can’t be eased
- feelings of dread about things you fear will happen
- sleep disruption (yes, this is a hard one to pick out, since a newborn means your sleep will be disrupted even without having anxiety — but think of this as waking up or having trouble sleeping at times when your baby’s sleeping peacefully)
- racing thoughts
As if all that wasn’t enough, you can also have physical symptoms related to postpartum anxiety, like: - fatigue
- heart palpitations
- hyperventilation
- sweating
- nausea or vomiting
- shakiness or trembling
Lane and Bushnell met at a radio event in Austin, Texas, in 2015, but a few years passed before their romance blossomed. In August of 2018, he (finally) invited her to join him and a group of friends on vacation — and even then, he didn’t exactly make the best impression
Lauren Bushnell was born in Portland, Oregon, United States actress, well known for Famous in Love (2017), The Bachelor (2002) and The Bachelorette (2003). Lauren is also a Flight attendant by profession.
The decision to call it quits over the phone “felt far healthier” for both parties, Ben explained. “I was on my way to New York with my boss when Lauren and I had a brief conversation in which we agreed she would move while I was gone. It was the best possible solution for both of us.
Unlike the baby blues, which last about two weeks, postpartum anxiety doesn’t always go away on its own. It’s crucial to seek help if anxiety is disrupting your sleep or you’re constantly preoccupied with worries. “In moderate to severe untreated cases, postpartum anxiety can last indefinitely,” Smith says.
