Doug Emhoff, Husband of Kamala Harris: During my first marriage, Kerstin Emhoff and I went through some tough times on account of my actions

Doug Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, said on Saturday that he had an extramarital affair during his first marriage, years before he met Ms. Harris.

The relationship with a teacher at his children’s elementary school occurred when he was married to his first wife, years before he met Ms. Harris.

The acknowledgment, which was released in a statement, came hours after a British tabloid reported that Mr. Emhoff had a previously undisclosed relationship with a teacher who worked at the elementary school his children attended in Culver City, Calif., approximately 15 years ago.

Second gentleman Doug Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, admitted Saturday to having an extramarital affair during his first marriage after a bombshell report by the Daily Mail reported he got his children’s nanny pregnant.

I took responsibility, and in the years since, we worked through things as a family and have come out stronger on the other side.

Kerstin Emhoff has spoken positively of Harris as a “co-parent” of her daughters and as “loving, nurturing, fiercely protecting and always present.” She issued a statement supporting her ex-husband after he acknowledged the affair.

“Doug and I decided to end our marriage for a variety of reasons, many years ago,” she said. “He is a great father to our kids, continues to be a great friend to me and I am really proud of the warm and supportive blended family Doug, Kamala, and I have built together.”

Emhoff did not return Fox News Digital’s requests for comment, but gave the statement to the Harris-friendly news network hours after the Daily Mail story broke.

Naylor did not keep the baby, a close friend with direct knowledge of the affair and pregnancy told The Daily Mail. It’s unclear what, exactly, the friend meant.

Hours after the outlet’s report, Emhoff admitted having an affair in a statement to CNN that didn’t name Naylor or address her alleged pregnancy.

According to Vance, his sister occasionally expressed the opinion that she should postpone the plan of having children. “I tell her you have been a great mom…. People like my sister should not feel like the cultural messaging is that your life is inadequate. People who are sending this message should feel their life is inadequate,” he said.

He further expressed his love and respect for wife and slammed the critics for targeting Usha for her Indian origin. “Obviously, she’s not a white person, and we’ve been accused, attacked by some white supremacists over that. But I just, I love Usha,” Vance noted.
