July 21 marks National Ice Cream Day, and many places are offering freebies and deals to celebrate the day

The day is actually a federally-recognized day, being formally recognized by Ronald Reagan in 1984. In the Proclamation, he officially set the third Sunday in July to be National Ice Cream Day, he also declared the entire month of July to be “National Ice Cream Month.”

To celebrate National Ice Cream Day, which falls on Sunday, July 21, many ice cream businesses and chains across the U.S. are offering discounts and free sweets to customers.
