It’s been an eventful Paris Olympics for Paraguayan swimmer Luana Alonso.
One of the most glamorous stars at the Olympics has been removed from the official athletes village after allegedly creating an ‘inappropriate environment.’
Athletes competing in the Games take up residency in the village where competitors are allowed to mix together, train, eat and relax alongside one another.
Swimmer Luana Alonso Asked to Leave Paris Olympic Village for This Reason
Luana Alonso, a 20-year-old swimmer from Paraguay, was reportedly removed from the Paris Olympic Village for being “too beautiful,” as she allegedly distracted other athletes.
The controversy centers on her behavior outside of competition, including socializing with fellow athletes and wearing ‘skimpy clothes’.
However, team Paraguay have asked one of their stars to leave the village after refusing to allow them to stay until the end of the competition that officially closes on Sunday, August 11.
The 20-year-old athlete — who retired from the sport after she failed to advance out of her heat and into the women’s 100m butterfly semifinals on July 27 — was asked to leave the Olympic Village for creating an inappropriate environment, The Sun reported Monday.
“Her presence is creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay,” Larissa Schaerer, the head of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, said in a statement published by the outlet.
According to local media reports, Alonso spent a night out in Paris and went to Disneyland rather than staying to support teammates.
“We thank her for proceeding as instructed, as it was of her own free will that she did not spend the night in the Athletes’ Village.”
Alonso, 20, has yet to state her departure from the Athletes’ Village.
She called time on her career after missing out on qualification for the semi-final by a mere 0.24 seconds.
After the race, Alonso told her on 310,000 Instagram followers: “It’s official now!
