Tom Cruise’s Olympic Stunt! Last night in Paris, the actor rappelled down from the roof of the Stade de France stadium as part of the Olympics closing ceremony

Tom Cruise performs ‘epic stunt’ at Olympics closing ceremony

According to reports, Cruise would rappel into Paris’ Stade de France, during the closing ceremonies. That would be followed by a pre-recorded video of Cruise skydiving onto the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles. That report is accurate now in hindsight.

Cruise, 62, is known for taking stunts to the next level, and given that Los Angeles will be hosting the 2028 Olympics, it was assumed that someone representing the city would be in attendance to take the Olympic flag, as is tradition. Here’s how the stunt went down live

At some point, did Tom Cruise decide he wasn’t satisfied with playing death-defying secret agent Ethan Hunt, and that he would attempt to live out the over-the-top adventures of Hunt?
Last night in Paris, the actor rappelled down from the roof of the Stade de France stadium as part of the Olympics closing ceremony. The next Summer Olympics will be in Los Angeles in 2028, and so the ceremony’s passing of the torch naturally included some Hollywood spectacle.

He was present in Paris for various events, including some swimming events on July 27, the women’s gymnastics qualifications round on July 28, and the women’s soccer gold medal match on Aug. 10, where the U.S. took home the win against Brazil.

In his closing speech, he praised athletes for their “simply amazing” performances, saying they showed “what greatness we humans are capable of”.

He continued: “During all this time, you lived peacefully together under one roof in the Olympic Village. You embraced each other. You respected each other, even if your countries are divided by war and conflict. You created a culture of peace.

“This inspired all of us and billions of people around the globe. Thank you for making us dream. Thank you for making us believe in a better world for everyone.”
